Most of the houses like that have the large square footage and 1/2 acre-1 acre lots, but they skimp out on amenities inside.....basic kitchen appliances and fixtures, basic baths with plastic tubs and plain porcelain toilets, synthetic countertops in bathrooms and possibly kitchen, no crown molding, laminate wood in entryway and formal dining, but nowhere else, brick front and plastic siding on remaining exterior, etc. The builders prob put less than $75k in materials, $30k in land, and $20k in labor in the house and selling for $350k. Used to live in southeast and when looking for a house, i was irked at how nice they looked rrom the road but how cheap they looked inside forvthe money...
