There's a metal strip on the underside of those wooden tables that goes around the entire underside of the surface. When the table breaks it kinda looks like black tape or wire but it's metal and it can cut badly if you catch it the wrong way.

Gotcha. Yeah, I'd bet it was the metal, considering how straight and clean the cut was. Wooden table cuts are more shallow and jagged
