That's why we need the YG's & the Nipsey's.

Traditional gangsta rap nikkaz who dont mumble and use autotune thru the entire album.

I got love for my Chicago nikkaz, but if i see another dreadhead holdin a double cup, rappin with autotune, I'm done with rap from there until Common drops his album(that Love Star track is :wow:)

Majority of these new nikkaz are hipsters to me.

Damn OP I been saying this shyt since 2011...just look at power 105 LA they play trap/edm shyt on the radio...these rappers got so caught up in the glam and fame their rhymes don't resonate with the community they came from...it's hard to listen to a nikka talking about Benzes, Cashing out on Jewelry and hopping off G5s getting show money state to state when you still in the hood walking and taking the bus and just getting by...nipsey hussle one of my favorite rappers but even he changed into a brag rapper now...ever since the bling bling era it's been all about what you got and how much of it you got without talking about the trials and tribulations to get it

There is more hood rappers than ever before

But they quick to sell out and dress like hoes, to attract hoes.

I miss the social commentary more than anything. I mean on the level of Ice Cube or Pac or Chuck D type of introspective raps. All we have left is autotune and these old ass rappers scared of spitting black power in their raps, being scared of growing the fukk up.

Social media is gonna be a big reason why this trend continues. These new up and coming rappers are all about showcasing a certain lifestyle and showing off for the Gram.

Instagram fame is really all they want period. Rapping about the struggle isn't as glamorous as rapping about luxury cars and jewelry that you don't own. Today's hiphop is literally about what makes IG thots and strippers shake their a55es

There are rappers that still do this. They're just awful at making appealing music

iI see what your saying

I think what were missing most of all is a pac, nas, jay -z, Cube, Face type of rap artist someone whos a great rapper + artistry.

no one in his generation of 2010- rapppers is like that.

to many average rappers

and rappers that are above or are excellent dont make albums that measure up.

Ironically the OP is expressing what could be considered elitist, hipster like views. There is a major hood presence in rap. The problem is that dustheads and "real hip hop" dudes don't respect it. Can you get any more hood than a lot of these Chicago and ATL rappers now? And that shyt is dominating the type of small clubs and parties black people actually attend. Yea white hipsters like that shyt, but white hipsters also liked 90s hardcore rap. The difference is nobody gave a fukk what corny white dudes with names like William had to say about rap back then. Now corny white dudes can make a youtube channel reviewing music and people will watch.

@biscuitsnbangers tbh reminds me of shyt Punch (from TDE) was saying about gangsta rap being dead. Gangsta shyt is alive and popping.

Yea yall know I don't fukk with a lot of trap/drill/etc but I'm not gonna shyt on the stuff. And I certainly won't question the hood credentials because they dudes are way hooder than my "black guy in finance" ass.
