I figured this would be the Steve Pavlina post by the same name.

I read this shyt senior year in college, while at work, and it opened my eyes to a lot about money. The way he worded the article is misleading; everyone has a job, even entrepreneurs. A business is a job. You might not be doing all the work if you're the boss, but you still need to call the shots and know wtf is going on at all times.

I think he wrote it that way so it would cause a reaction in the reader to get them to consider an alternative way of supporting his or her self that they might not have known existed.

I think he even says this in the article somewhere.

Have you ever tried talking to the average person about doing anything other than being an employee? What's the first thing they tell you when they need more money?

"I need to get a better job," or "I need to get a 2nd job". It's like, that's all they know when it comes to making money. Very rarely will they say:
"I should invest," or "I should look into building income streams."

Its not easy starting a business, but every major corporation was built from the bottom up. This article was the first step I took into working smart for my money, instead of working hard. I'm not there yet, but the only way to make it work is to never give up...aka Ready, Fire, Aim.

And btw; passive income is pretty much a myth. Unless you make content for one of those revenue sharing websites, but that's only because other people are also adding to those sites. Some income streams are more passive than others, but there are no real "set it and forget" ones out there.

O so you just have to know?

I'm still in school and...

I'm a real estate agent (barely any real work involved) and I flip small parcels of land from auctions...

You don't have the startup capital to do that? Sell some fukking weed like everyone else

I make more than enough to get by and that's with the distraction of school in my way

The facts are there are millions of opportunities in this country... Just most people are too bytchmade and distracted to do anything about it

Tell me more about flipping parcels of land...is it lucrative? (What is the average investment and profit)

Are there any requirements other than cash? :myman:

The article was on point but the author kinda trolled the being a dikk lane so nikkas would get an emotional reaction to it so it would stick in their head longer. Once you see past that obvious bullshyt you start seeing the shyt he saying. Even then there's mad myths generated from that shyt that nikkas don't see.

-It will always take money to make money. It's just some businesses will take more money than others. It's up to you to think outside the box and cut that overhead.

- You will always need some type of job or hustle to make bread in order to put into your business. Money doesn't magically appear out of thin air for you, the author of that article made it seem like cats wake up and funds is already set out on the table for you to grind with. You gotta do something to get some start up money to play with.

- The internet is prolly the easiest route to get money compared to brick and motar businesses cuz you got endless possibilities and don't need big amounts of start up money, but even that is still hard.

- No matter what path you take, it won't be some cake walk

Real talk, these articles will never outline some magcial route to independent financial success. I think that's the real reason people get upset about them shyts. There isn't any written in stone type of hustle that will work for everybody. Everybody is different and different shyt happens to everybody differently. nikkas just gotta realize that the only purpose those articles serve is to get you to look at things in a different perspective. Basically informing you that there is another way. It's just up to you to find your own personal way. For that reason alone everybody can't get rich because not everyone will find their way, let alone attempt to.

*hated job*
*quit*
*hustled and chilled for a few months*
*started own business*
*feels better, makes more, hasn't been woken up by an alarm for as long as can remember, spends more time with girl, family and my boys, doesn't have to wear some bytch-ass suit (b-ball shorts and vest in summer, working from laptop outdoors >>>) and doesn't have to listen to colleague's fukking stories about their kids*

fair enough to those of you who are content with working for and answering to another man, but I wasn't.

i'm just starting on this road now. respeck

why did this thread make some people so mad though?

My boy, best friend since 10th grade, spent every year until 2010 selling packs of chronic, among other illicit items, finally fell the fukk off, got a real job at Chase, (a year or prior he graduated, and got a real estate license), after about 11 months at Chase, he hated it, decided to do full time real estate, even if it meant waiting tables on the side to make ends meet.

Got a loan from family, for 5k started a medical marijuana delivery service, and now runs that, does real estate, and other ventures. Of course, now he goes on about hating corporations, and subscribes to self help bullshyt like that Pavlina piece, I respect him 100%, but it's not the way for everyone, and secondly, you shouldn't look down on others for working. And, not everyone is in position to get a loan like that, or down to skate the lines of the law, as he does. But, he's definitely a testament to the ideologies of this writing.

Federal Law, sure, city and state, no. He pays taxes on that shyt. I referenced that in the post though, as in not for everyone, but it's definitely an example of exactly what we are discussing in here.

He's breaking the law and he's looking over his shoulder every day. Not a hot look.
