I’m guessing after deductions and he’s putting a higher percentage in his 401k / roth.

Also just looked it up.

Six figures in Florida is way more than six figures in DC :wow:

Almost a $300 more per check

Its my last year in Northern VA. People acting like this area is going through it because of general inflation have no idea how fukked it is out here specifically. It simply doesn't make sense to set up shop around DC anymore if you have the option to leave.

Breh you gotta move to the suburbs of DC, not DC proper. Still expensive, but not as much. :francis:

Like where? I was making around $130 and living in NoVA for a bit. Housing was averaging 2k+/month for small one-bedrooms. Townhouses were fairly expensive as well.

Most folks ended up buying in Ashburn or further out, still paying like 500-800k for housing.

It just is what it is I guess.

I think I'll eventually return to DC due to the concentration of educated black progressives, but I decided that I might as well live and finish school in Coastal Cali for those prices.

DC not hitting like Cali lifestyle wise, but the cost of living is up there with 'em. Just don't understand.

Access to those good Government jobs and contracts @DEAD7 :wow: :whew:

But seriously, I've seen remote jobs in my field that specifically want you to live in the DMV area. @FAH1223

They can shoot me a text or visit. :mjlol:I don't even like the social scene here either really because its just fake/scared people trying to put on for other fake/scared people. Half the city feels like its propped up on imposter syndrome...

But its ridiculous out here to the point where its obviously not sustainable. It was bad *before* Covid hit. Costs were already going through the roof. But once the evictions took off leading to a second warp of the housing situation? They're going to price out the middle class. And while yeah that sucks by itself, DC can't function well in many aspects without those people being able to get to work comfortably. Its causing all kinds of issues.

Honestly I'm fortunate that I can think about most of this without having to consider how I'll support kids or family. If I did? I'd have packed it up last year.

America is slowly, but surely headed towards 3rd world status, where you will have the rich and then the poor. People are just deceived right now because we have a pretty veneer covering up all of the decay.

Why did you move back if your house is paid off in Louisiana?

Are you renting out the pad in Louisiana?

I could be tripping because it’s early, but how are you being taxed damn near 40 percent? 100k divided by 12 is 8,333. How are you being taxed 3000 a month to end up with 5200?

$100K is almost $6k a month after taxes without retirement contributions.

On the other hand, black folks need to start thinking about joint tenancy. My cousins, when they all graduated college and got jobs, got a home together and paid it off in full in a little over six years (3X'd the mortage payments every month). They did it again for the middle cousin and paid that one off and are now working on the baby girl. I think they'll pay that off by 2026/27.

My own father purchased a 2nd home in Dec '20 and he's makimg triple mortage payments and $20-30k lump payments at the end of every year. He never earned more than $28K/year working for the state or $43K/yr when his National Guard unit was made active duty during the Iraq War. He socked it to his retirement plans and the skrilla is hitting his pocket every month from five directions. Even made my mom come home early when he retired.

Don’t nobody feel pity for your circumstance
We all fukked at this point
You will own nothing and love it :francis:

Funny that you mentioned that. On 60 minutes they talked to a CEO of a company buying up a lot of property. He said they want Americans to "rent" the American dream. What's crazier this is a Canadian company. :lolbron:

Where in PG, most places in PG that all close to DC are hood. I just left the hood in Louisiana. Fukk the hood, especially a hood i didn't grow up in. I am considering Silver Spring (still a bad commute to SouthEast). Might grab a Studio at the Harbor. I'm not trying to live in Upper Marlboro or Columbia. I would go to Alexandria, Arlington, but my women in Maryland.
come over to VA you can drive to Maryland but it’s safer and around the same price depending on where you stay
