:comeon: these are kids. Kids never follow rules, that's why they need guidance. I don't think a kid should have his adult life and succes stagnated because he made a mistake. Dance team is one thing, but loss of scholarship:beli:

We should be looking to help kids, not make their lives more difficult.

They are high schoolers!!! if they are still having problems following SIMPLE rules, then post high school is going to be a bytch for them. Getting repeated warnings without any negative impact was a blessing because most people dont get more than one chance. But you fukk up your blessing by still doing what you want to do; then you have to deal with the consequences. If highschool isn't a good place to learn that then I don't know where else you can learn it.

THEY fukked up their scholarship and dance team chances but not adhering to a rule they got ample warning about. That's not the school's fault.

I agree with this. But at the same time the kids should be the number one priority, and sending 100 troubled kids home for two days is never a good idea. They probably did all types of fukking drinking and smoking. Those kids kicked it for two days and probably will still abuse the uniform rules. In my opinion a better idea would have been to make them come to school and take away privlages that they enjoy.

I don't necessarily agree with two days suspension; my comments were more related to someone saying give them after school detention (which isn't fair to people who work at the school who always have lives that they want and need to live). I am simply in favor of options that don't continue to punish teachers for something can't can control and probably can't change.

Having been a teacher in the past, I honestly can't think of any punishment that would really make students give a damn about following uniform rules. Also you're right, suspension for children is like a vacation.

Man if they made me a school principal right about now I would be in the news because some student or parent would bust a cap in my ass

shyt i would ban

  • Saggy pants
  • Bandanas
  • Hats
  • Phone turned off inside the classroom
  • Your phone should not even be visible in the classroom, period.
  • Jewelry (includes earrings and gold teeth) for male and female
  • Long nails
  • Non prescription lenses

Mandatory uniforms for everyone including the teachers. YeP... I'd be shot dead in the schoolyard a week into office

We (teachers) had to wear uniforms at our school. It was the exact same uniform that students had to wear (white or yellow shirts and navy or khaki bottoms). We didn't like it but it was what it was. Depending on who saw you, you would have to go home and change if you were out of uniform.

I don't teach anymore and until this day I rarely wear yellow which is a color that I previously loved to wear.

u never lied...its a couple of schools in tx right now..that r strict on dress code..

since the 90s...that cant get over 50 students to pass the ol school itbs...teams taas taks or the staar test...

that cant keep a principal....its a revolving door...kuz everybody wanna be george mckenna or joe clark....get into the hood tx schools..n see all that ass

n temptation get em fired...instead of them following their agenda...

those schools probably need to be shut down

i dont think uniforms work all by themselves but as part of a creating an academic environment it can help

I personally think that sending them home sends an alert to the parents (hopefully).

Just like on Lean Me. Joe Clark gathered all the problematic students on stage and then expelled them. Then all of a sudden every parent is outraged, where were you when your child was disrupting school and failing? Same situation to me...you are being distruptful by purposely not following the uniform guidelines and because you can't follow rules, you go home. Explain to your mother what happened.

Highschoolers are kids.

I never said its the schools fault. Discipline should aim to rehabilitate and fix the problem not to punish.

Here we have kids that we know have fukked up home lives. They are going to a fukked up school, and we give them the harshest punishment. The world is giving them nothing but shyt why wouldn't they give shyt back to the world? If th schools is as bad as people are saying it is they are probably watching adults break the rules everyday. Kids only replicate their surroundings, if they are acting up we should look at ourselves instead of trying to figure out how to punish them.

With that said I have no problem with punishing the kids. I just don't see how sending them home for two days will help them or fix the behavior. We have to move forward the old idea of these rigid punishments is obviously not working. We need to analyze what these kids really need in order to be better, instead of just looking for mistakes and punishing them.

I would have the teachers wear slightly different colors to identify/distinguish them. But yes i still want them in uniforms so i can quickly assess who's doesnt belong there when surveying the school grounds

No lie. When I read the title, I automatically knew that

1...This happened in the south
2...The principal was black

So when there is a police brutality case what assumptions do you normally make? :smugbiden:

How does this tie in to what I said.....

I didn't assume anything. I KNEW this was going to be a story about a school in the south(black school) and that the principal was black.

Turns out I was exactly right when I looked up the story...And not only was I right, it happened in my backyard :smugdraper:

Dress code is the dress code no matter what setting its in. Many of us have dress and groomin codes/rules for work. Should we just say "fucc it" and wear whatever the hell we want? Should the branch manager at a bank be able to show up at work one day and say "fucc this suit, I'm rockin my J's, Trues, jean vest, t-shirt & snapback today at work?" :mindbllown:

Hell no, he shouldn't do that shyt! The manager can't say "hey, its no big deal, what does it batter" Nyggaz get denied gettin into the club for not dressing properly. MY high school had a dress code and please believe that I've seen hella people get detention, sent home or suspended for continuous dress code and grooming infractions. Parents signed compliance forms in the handbook at the beginning of each year. Parents and kids know the rules. But nyggaz just like buckin the sytem and get mad when they get suspended :mindblown:

this is not a job that is selective and can hire who they want. and if its SO IMPORTANT, MENTIONING JOBS AND WHATEVER, WHY DONT COLLEGES, WHOSE SOLE PURPOSE IS TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL CAREERS, WHY DONT THEY REQUIRE THEM?
