Babe Ruth got my respect when I found out he was lobbying for blacks to get into the MLB
He wasnt your average cac
He knew where the competition was
Had black friends too
So when I found all that out I stopped hating on The Great Bambino
I will always view sports in eras when I look at stats
There were 3 in baseball
'Pre Integration' Pre Robinson
'The Classic Era' Robinson - 1980
'Modern Era' 1981 - Present
I try not to compare stats of players from different eras due to TMT Training, Medicine & Technology

I forget who was quoted from the negro league as saying he was sure Ruth was at least part black. Yeah I don't know how valid that was but he certainly didn't discriminate. Not everyone does. As for comparing players I think someone who put those type of numbers up back then is more commendable since they didn't have modern medicine and health type treatments. Made it harder to sustain that. He hit for the Yankees from 1920-34. By comparison Barry played from 1986-2007. Ruth did pitch for 5 years prior though.

It's insane to dislike someone for a trivial reason. If someone is a nice person I like them, and if they're great at their sport, they're a great athlete. That's how I know most of these people are trolls. Most of my friends are from other countries. My girl is from another country and a culture totally different than my own and I've said these things time and time again. If I made a thread appreciating Ty Cobb than being angry would be valid, but regardless of how great a player he was, he allegedly killed someone and was a klansmen so fukk that guy.
