ATL, but rasied in DMV
I was browsing the internet like I'm doing now, then clicked on the CNN Website, where his death was printed in large bold print.

He had one of the saddest funerals I ever saw on television for a celebrity. We, and the people in my generation practically felt like we grew up with Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five.

I was off work that day and for some reason the internet wasn’t working properly.

I turned on the tv to make sure my comcast was working properly and saw it on CNN that he had collapsed but no confirmation of death

The internet was going in and out and it was the FIRST TIME I ever saw the words “TMZ”. They were the first to say conclusively that MJ had died and I didn’t believe it until 15 mins later CNN confirmed.

Michael Jackson did two legendary things that day

He SHUT DOWN THE INTERNET

HE put TMZ on the MAP

this was the 9/11 of music

I remember I was at my homie crib and we was playing Madden, I was busting ass with the Sissynatti Bengals when his grandmama called him up and she was crying so hard I’m thinking someone she knew personally died, getting my homie worked up as well and then she told him MJ passed and he almost cussed her out. We didn’t even feel like playing anymore. Just sat there for a good couple minutes, went to the liquor store and posted outside with a few people
You hung around some great people. Who the hell cusses they granny out :scust:
