Worldwide it's not even close. I've met plenty of people outside the US that never heard of Kobe but I don't think I've ever met a single person that never heard of MJ.

But people still actively stanned Kobe when he died. So it was definitely more impactful. Michael wasnt relevent at the time

My wife called me bawling when I was on my way home from work. I hit her with the :comeon: because there were Eddie Murphy, Sinbad, and Bill Cosby death hoaxes a little bit before that. She was like "No babe, they're wheeling him out right now! We're watching it in the break room. People are crying :to:!" We talked for a couple of more minutes, then I tried to get online to confirm it, and I couldn't even get on. Dude legit broke the internet. That confirmed it for me :wow:.

Jay and Beyoncé are the only people I can think of
And even then I’m not sure

Definitely not. Michael was waaaaay bigger than Jay and Beyonce. Chinese and Indian and other people be stanning Mike but not Jay and B.

Also, Michael's death was felt more than Kobe's worldwide. More people are affected by music than sports

One more thing, the first girl in the audience in the video is beautiful

Older cousin left a message that the king of pop is dead.

We turned to CNN real quick with a helicopter flying over his house with an ambulance in front of the gate.

I just remember the endless marathon of mj music videos on mtv, bet, etc

I remember the bitter sweet feeling of watching those videos like rock with you & don't stop til you get enough.

Real sad time period.:mjcry:
