This is EXACTLY why people need to take gun safety courses and get a CCL, even in Texas.
Got mine awhile back at a training academy headed up by a Gen X breh from from NYC (think he said Brooklyn).
Dude drilled it into our brains and even showed multiple videos about discharging weapons at people that are running away from you. If someone is attacking....you gotta think carefully about not just the attacker but also what's behind them and where the bullets may go.
Even if someone is coming at you....you might be sorta justified in shooting them but can STILL get sued in civil court....especially if we talking Black shooter and non-Black person getting shot.
If someone is running away, even if they stole something out your car and it's on tape....you DO NOT shoot them. The whole point is to fire your weapon when you're in imminent danger. Imminent = I have nowhere to run/hide and the other person is gonna kill me.
Only cops can get away with the "I feared for my life" bullshyt. Black cops can do it with Black citizens but not anyone else. Only white cops get full shooter privileges. Even military white boys can't do it.

Because that's probably not what the shooter thought was happening? I have kids playing that game at my door all the time, always during the day. Annoys me sure but I would never shoot someone for it. With this case I would be curious to see what the shooter saw. Someone creeping low up his driveway/porch (which is how kids do this usually)? Does the neighborhood have a lot of crime already?

Had some kids/teens doing this in our neighborhood (in Houston, at night), neighbors posted the Ring footage. They weren’t ringing the doorbell or knocking, they were turning around backwards and kicking the shyt out of the door, like someone trying to break in would do. My neighborhood is full of retired veterans waiting for somebody to try some shyt.
