12 years :wow:

I remember copping this from Dark-N-Cold in London. GRODT was like a Schwarzenegger movie on wax.

The timing of this album dropping was always interesting to me. It was essentially the soundtrack to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Not to say it was a sinister plot by the powers that be to have it coincide, but the fact it blew up so huge at the exact same time always made me stop and think. Some interesting parallels.

I like the album, was good, not quite a classic to me but probably a solid 4 mic album.

This is weird to say but that album is a culture classic but no a classic for whats actually on the album. The music was not up to par with what we usually think of when we talk about classic

Was hot for like a week. Those early 2000s beats didn't age well at all, especially "In the Club" :scust:

Album was garage and its mainly due to Dre and Em's (especially him :scust: ) poppy production. I remember hearing what up gangsta and being like :wow: Then the next few tracks with Em and dre were just :ld: (outside many men) Only memorable tracks are what up gangsters and many men to be real. Very ddisappointing debut esp since hes mixtape work was classic (and kind of the template for what we see today) I think the massacre as a whole was more cohesive and had better songs. I also remember freeway debut dropped the same month as GRODT and that shyt blew it away

massacre was hot GAHBAGE.

Naw. It was a little long in the tooth like a snoop album and the bad songs are really shytty, but he had some great songs on their that I would put above his great songs on GRODT. Ski mask way, Baltimore love song, Ryder music, get in my car, a little bit, I'm suppose to die, my hood. I think this is when sctot storch was working with dre and you can tell. Production was much better the the garbage dre was doing earlier in the decade with em

One of the most overrated albums ever. It had some bangers but it had some fillers too. The buzz, the movement, the anticipation, the Shady Aftermath affiliation, the gangsta persona and story, the magnitude of what a hit In Da Club was>>>>>>>>>>the quality of the album.

Exactly. It was a classic only if you go by its pop culture impact but not its musical quality.

Can anyone really say the quality of this album was on par with what we consider classics like The Chronic, Cuban Linx, Illmatic, Low End Theory, Reasonable Doubt, Nation of Millions, ATLiens, etc. in terms of musical quality? Please.

And those are extreme examples. It wasn't on par with stuff like Illadelph Halflife, 93 Til Infinity, Dah Shinin, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, It Was Written, Doggystyle, Wu Tang Forever, One Day It'll All Make Sense, Hell On Earth, Moment of Truth, and Liquid Swords.

Album has aged very well. Only 4 songs that were ok and 2 of them were singles (Candyshop and the 1st single...The Em song and Piggy Bank) Other then that the album falls in the classic category based on the time it dropped and how well it has aged.

What the fukk is the problem with half of the fukkboys on the first page talking that "too early 2000s sounding didnt age well" bullshyt.. I hate when nikkas on the coli try to rewrite history or discredit somebody off of a bullshyt reason they dont believe their damn self

nikkas will find a way to hate on 50 even in thread that have nothing to do with him.

of course they gonna come thru and front like that album wasnt official then and now:rudy:
