Can you imagine what you as a son would go through having to attend a coroner's examination of the mother who raised you's sodomized anus? Then you must relive all that at the trial. Unacceptable.
But as the perpetrator , you forfeit all attempts at rehabilitation when you both murder and rape someone , because the first party can never be appeased. Even moreso for somebody's grandmother.
@murksiderock , I would only suggest changing one thing about the justice system in such extreme cases. if that 35yr inmate just happened to have rapped and murdered a grandmother from a family of Angels , who legitimately forgive him, then that family should have the ability to reduce his sentence or allow the rehabilitation options you are describing. In this instance , the agreived family's appeasement would be their wish for the perpetrator's betterment.
