excellent fukkin points here

ive told this story on here before, but my dads a teacher. and he has some kid in his class, doesnt give a fukk about shyt, gets Ds, etc. but he found out that hes pretty good at locks, locksmithing, etc

so apparently this fukkin kid was lookin at what colleges he was gonna go to, and my dad was just :snoop: because he said that hes in a position where if hes like yo....college isnt for you, hes gonna hear about it from the parents, his boss, etc

but yeah trades need to make a big time comeback. and like you said, its just this bullshyt narrative that society pushes about going to college
its a shame, ppl are so closed off that they think that the only way to succeed is University.

It's actually putting a hurt on society. But the few that have pushed through and gotten a trade are laughing cuz there isn't much competition, especially in the "dirty" or "hard" trades.

of course it is :heh: watching them tip toe around this type of shyt so they dont offend anyone is disgusting

the same can be said for their stance on illegals, because illegal competition hurts poorer american workers

:snoop: this is crazy.

and nobody, on a national level, is trying to address this problem at all

it really seems as though the democratic party is at the mercy of college students and whatever issues social media deems are important for the moment

I'm against it as policy, but have no problem with the Dems using it to trick stupid people into voting for them.

at the real money level, of course not

at the social media, "this is what we represent" level? yeah, id say so :ehh::heh:

i just find it mind blowing that rational thinking respected democratic officials in washington can't see what this article pointed out

that study was done by the LIBRE institute BTW
Homepage | The LIBRE Initiative

they just said "eh, we're good. hike that thang up to 15 dollars" anyway?

that's........interesting. :jbhmm:

So why do people actually think this would work?
It'd increase unemployment, replacement with robots, price hiking, overseas employment, and increased inflation would happen from this.
If you support this or disagree with me, could you explain why this is a good idea or why you disagree with me?

Note this isn't even an idea presented as just applying to large corporations; mom and pops would be hurting.
Meanwhile at the Nike Factory US workers will get paid more, all 50 of them left until they slowly get replaced by automated systems, contract workers, and outsourcing
Also with the ability to legitimize price hikes; if this shyt is applied blanketly, you've just increased inflation.

Can just be circumvented by contractual hire in the short term; this only takes 2 minutes of thought...just imagine how a businessmen who thinks of this scenario for years would cap off of this and laugh at people thinking they are doing a service to the common man.

Boosting the economy should be about getting ppl better jobs, creating better paying jobs, and providing the education and/or training for better jobs, not making shytty jobs higher paying.

This is just pandering, it doesn't solve real issues, and will end up causing bigger problems than it will solve.

Now, I do think that the min. wage is too low, jumping to a flat rate of $15 across the board doesn't help.
It should be tied to the median wage in whatever city/state you are in and should be a fixed percentage of that.

$15/ hr in San Fran isn't the same as $15 /hr in Mississippi.

There's companies out here asking for 4 year degrees for $11 an hour jobs. What's your argument there

Education and training doesn't mean someone has to have a 4 year degree or a PHd, all I'm implying is that ppl need opportunity and funding for training that will give them better opportunities and better paying jobs that they can live off of.

go be an HVAC technician, go be a plumber or some other trade. Go work in a day care or become personal support worker or someone that works in retirement homes, get in to any health care, get in to corrections or other types of law enforcement, real-estate, drive a bus or street car or subway operator go be a pilot. guess what???

these are all types of job that don't require you to ever even step foot in a university but still pay a decent living wage.

I honestly have little sympathy for any healthy person between the age of 22-50 that feels that a minimum wage job is all they can aspire to.

Walmart cashiers and greeters, mcdonalds burger flippers are jobs for seniors, students, or ppl that just want to augment their homes with a SECOND income.

ppl crying cause they can't live off of these jobs get ZERO sympathy from me.
