$150k in NYC or $75K Location Independant ?

Which do you all think is better? $150k doing a full time job in Manhattan? Or $75k working on your own with location-independence?

I would take the 75k and travel the world.

Location independence is the holy grail, especially since that $75k can stretch so much further (Than 150k NYC) when you're not bound by being in 1 place.

Rental rule is rent x 40 MAX = your income... so that leaves u 3750 for a place in NYC. Good if u dont have kids, pipe dream without it. And 150K, 150M, 150B, there are things u just cant buy in the city, like privacy, peace and quiet, decent weather. Theres no $$$ I would go back for

I been looking in Raleigh and Charlotte, may make a move there, buy a home and rent it out to split life live when it's finally time to jettison the US.

$150k at large firm, suit and tie, stock options etc
$75k internet promotions,free lancing, all you need is a wifi connection
