I was watching this story on the news yesterday. As a high school teacher myself, I want to say that by suspending her for the contents of her poem the teacher (especially the teacher) who couldn't wait to turn her in and school administration FAILED. We call these situations "teachable" moments. They chose to be politically correct... Kids don't think that way. The student has a lot to say and she's trying to find her voice... it's the school's job to show her a more constructive way.
