Man you broke out gold tooth havin Nikki D:russ:

You remember BWP? Can't remember if it was 91 or 92 but they used to play the video to this shyt right here:pachaha:

shyt is STILL hilarious

That video was 1991.

It was Choice, HWA and BWP that introduced us to the ho rap that would later be taken over by Kim and Foxy. That sh*t was stuck in the underground because Black society still put class at the forefront in 1991.

While it's usually a constant thought, threads like these are always dope to see every now and again and remind everyone how dope it was to have regional sounds. Weird going back and listening to a lot of the political issues that existed back then, they're still prevalent today.

was watching an old epsidoe of In Living Color and there was this skit where this Black guy and Black woman are on a date and the Black woman says "What kind of music are you into?...I like Hip Hop for the political message" Mind you I saw this a few months ago and it didnt even sound right hearing it but the show was made in 1990 when saying something like that made sense....Its sad how we gave up such a powerful voice to convince the world we are criminals, thugs and gangsters.

I remember HWA, BWP, always saw the Choice album with her in the booty shorts, sittin on the racks...Willie D clowned her the next year on his album.

The beat to Step Into The Arna was so sick even 2pac had to bow down....I always did the math and noticed that if teh Nutcracker was 18 in 1995 (Thats what he said on the Living Proof album) then he must have been 14 in this video(he's the one holding the metal pipe).....Dude must have those Mike Tyson genes to look like that at 14.

Davey D had radio in Cali PUMPIN this cut....First three Gang Starr albums STILL get spun on our old school hip hop sation Q102.1

Ya'll remember Nikki D??

I remember a few parents saying this song was bad for the kids because of the content
her album was meh because it had so many dance tracks but she talked about some crazy crazy and real shyt on those fast ass beats, way ahead of her time with that. she even got a joint about her man cheating on her with a dude way before that DL shyt became a thing

on some nerd shyt its probably one of the loudest mixed albums i ever heard

1991 was the first year where I started building my own little tape collection, and really following this rap shyt closely. Picked up my first issue of The Source that had Slick Rick on the cover, and in depth interviews with him, NWA, DJ Quik, and Shabba Ranks…..copping albums when they dropped and just going all the way in. I was in 7th and 8th grade, and this year set the standard high for me. What a great year album wise. It's crazy to think all these came out in '91…
