as a pro he had a 19ppg season :what: He played 10 seasons averaged 12ppg on 46%. u act like he couldn't get buckets in a team setting
But how effective was he as a TEAM player and a TEAM contributor? Don’t be obtuse.

Use Cam Reddish beating bums in 1vs1 as your evidence for a dumbass take brehs

1on1 is the essence of sports IMO. When we weren't practicing 5vs5 basketball we were playing 1on1. Before and/or after football practice CBs were running ones against WRs. It's how you perfect/grow individual skills to contribute to the team. As a CB I never wanted to rely on safety help, freeing him up to do something else helped the overall defense. Same with basketball, the more you can do on your own the less help you need, which makes the entire team better.

Why hasn't the thread starter been given a WOAT tag yet. Dude has definitely earned it.

1 on 1s happen in all types of situations. You aren't just dribbling at the top of the key for 30 seconds. You duck down and seal a guy in the post, your in a 1v1. You pop up off a V-Cut to catch a pass your in a 1v1. You come off a screen and force a switch your in a 1v1. You don't like guys over dribbling, put a 3 or 5 dribble maximum. And you work from all spots on the court. All these things are building blocks towards getting to the 5v5. Dudes complain that the game is all penetrate and kick, where are the penetrations coming from? Everybody playing 1v1. Your going to watch KD and Shai and other players fry cats and say they aren't playing real basketball?

Bron honestly seems like outside of competing in a full 5v5 basketball game, he doesn't compete in anything at all relative to basketball. He doesn't have too. A bag of people already sing his praises. Any loss outside of that just noise that he and his team do best to avoid.

How do you increase your individual skill level bruh if you not playing 1s

As someone who used to play a lot of 1v1, to get better at 5v5, it's best to just play in 5v5 full court situations. Need to know how to move w/o the ball, how to get open, how to pass, defend PnR, box out, etc.

One on one isn't even all that great for teaching b/c when you burn your defender in a real game, there will be help rotating, then open players that you won't be used to looking for.

1v1 is good at teaching you how to beat your man off the dribble and create space, but that's only a small portion of the game.

:lupe:Can’t be the GOAT if you suck at 1 on 1.

So let’s diminish it and make it meaningless.
:mjgrin::childplease:
ok if it's so important....

why is there no league for it?
why are there no stats for it?

basketball is a TEAM SPORT....

the man that invented the damn game invented it to be played with teams...but of course the coli sees it otherwise.....

:unimpressed:

can it be played 1v1?
...of course it can but thats not the way it's meant to be played

You moved many goal posts within one post.

Nothing you typed explains why 1 on 1 isn’t “real basketball”. That’s the topic, not how it’s “meant to be played”. There’s a reason teams have mandatory 1 ons, because it’s part of the game.

Dudes are 5 secs away from saying dunk contests are more important that 1s because there was a showcase at the all star weekend. :mjlol:
