John Salley and mind you OLD ASS PAST HIS PRIME John Salley used to beat…

You know what, this hits better coming from the source

Ayo!!! :laff: Where wa this clip during my prime Bron-Kobe debate years

This is my point! Hoopers don’t need to see this to know. But this new age of fans where nggas who can’t even play are the loudest—-yea including this site—-have no clue. So 1v1 has taken on mythical proportions. So now there’s an expectation of star players being unbeatable.

I’m a Lebron fan.

1) We already have confirmation from Haslem that Wade beat him.

2) We have 20 years of data. It’s not hard to think like bron bruh. He never did the dunk contest bc he doesn’t want to lose.

And even beyond Bron, in general it’s a lose lose for a player of his stature. Social media era the avg fan doesn’t realize that yes a cam reddish today could absolutely beat Bron 1 v 1 and that doesnt mean anything. But the trash fans we have nowadays would MAKE it mean something. (As evident by the way they’re reacting to this video). Fans would talk about it til they die and bring it up in goat debates.

So yes, he’s justified to not want to put himself in that position.

I’m sure he lost some 1v1.

But I don’t think no one in the NBA is undefeated in their long careers are 1v1s, but records arent kept its just meaningless.

look I’m admittedly flabby and sick.

I coach youth sports bball… a couple years back I was in the gym with one of my players helping them train & work on their game.

Some YouTube cat was on the other half of the court doing 1v1s and was just mad Arrogant and braggodocious beating all these other teens or cats that was in the gym.

As we finished up, buddy seems me walking at and asked if I wanted a run. I initially declined but he kept kinda egging me on and asking. Finally I was like fukk it ok, but wasn’t gonna take it seriously.

Cut to the end, I ended up beating dude but in reality buddy was younger, faster, had a bigger bag and really was much better than me, if we ran it back, maybe I would’ve lost.

but 1v1 really proves nothing, it’s a workout

MJ and Kobe would not be the same players if they didn't learn how to function in a team setting under Dean Smith and Phil Jackson, respectively. Kobe pre Phil was literally JR Smith before JR Smith.

Them white dudes ain't teach MJ/Kobe shyt

Right place. Right time for them

Coaches don't play

LEBRON DOESNT PLAY 1V1
BECAUSE HE USED TO GET
COOKED IN IT ALL THE TIME.

Love Bron but he really influencing this new generation of players to lose that dog mentality. Kyrie and KD def don’t agree. Of course you literally have to play with the team. But it’s just something basketball players do for competitiveness.

In the rap terms it's the difference between a Big L and a Jay-Z. There's freestyling, and then there's actually making songs.

Like Big L may have cooked Jay in that Stretch & Bobbito freestyle but he doesn't have anything touching Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, Black Album, etc.

1v1 is a skill, just like being able to hit free throws at a high clip, or being a great passer. Being able to score on an island is absolutely a skill in the NBA, even if its not as highly valued as it was 15-20 years ago.

One player being better than another in 1v1 doesn't make him a better player overall.

Like Lebron is top 2 of all time imo, but there are other players I think are better 1-on-1 isolation players. That doesn't take away from his greatness

How 1v1 don’t matter?

:dead:

Teams don’t need isolation scorers during the playoffs when halfcourt offense is a necessity?

What about the 4th quarter closers?

I dont get your point.

There are no Kyrie’s and KD’s etc without 1s.

Why do all these new nggas look the same and play the same these days?! Probably bc they didn’t grown up playing 1s and instead were doing drills with their trainers. The word that comes to mind: ingenuity.

Creativity. 1’s helps you develop that. To this day I’m baffled at all these moves that have fancy names and have to be taught (by white trainers :patrice:). Man we just learned that shyt on the fly thru ad libbing and trial and error. Playing 1s!

1v1 is one if those things you don’t know its importance until you remove it. I’d compare it to a famous comedian turned actor going back to doing stand up, or a famous actor doing broadway. Yea it’s a ‘lesser’ craft but it made him who he is and is occasionally required to refresh him, keep him sharp, get back to his essence, etc

Because the league changed. You had to be more iso based back then because of the rules, different rules different play styles

No, I mean at an individual level. Players still iso and go get buckets. And that all looks the same

People talk like Kyrie ia an alien obviously he’s unique but there should be more unique players. Ie Rob Dillingham.

There are very few bc they all train the same exact moves. Jalen brunson looks like Tyrese Maxey looks like Devin Booker, etc. No ingenuity
