You're not wrong, people I knew that had not watched wrestling for years felt sorry for Cody and wanted him to win the belt

The end was probably the coolest the Rumble has been in a long time. You had a lot of heavy hitters out there all at once and then the outside brawl between Rollins, Roman and Punk put it over the top. It kind of felt old school in a way because back in the day the only way you'd see a bunch of top guys all together like that would be something like the Rumble and because a lot of these guys are part time it really felt that old school vibe
