Scholarships tend to be given out on a very limited basis. With the high costs of higher education and the growing resentment at student loans, I believe these scholarships are best served to legal American citizens. You are trying to rationalize criminality by pointing out her accomplishments but that ignores that there are millions of foreigners who are also qualified and accomplished who don't get to make it here because of this little thing called immigration quotas. She 'cut the line' by coming here illegally and now she's taken something of value away from an American citizen and from those that are waiting for their turn to come here legally.

Last I checked, African-Americans and legal Mexican-Americans make up a significant chunk of the American populace. She is "stealing" from you. I said MOST Coli nikkaz first off but I'm assuming your referring to yourself so good for you. Just surprising how an undocumented high school student causes such grief in your life even in spite of your successes.

But her biggest crime is being her without documentation and in spite of that still managed to be a upstanding individual in our society and country. She's ready to make a difference in a world and you are a Nurse with a BSN and expert in cybersecurity who's main focus on her citizenship status.

1. I agree with you. Private enterprise are free to do what they want.

2. If we isolated her case, I may agree with you. She 'deserves' that scholarship based on her merit. However, when setting precedent, I think its wrong to say its ok for foreigners who are not here legally to break the rules and reap our rewards. She is an exemplary student but she does not represent the entire bloc of 'illegals'.
