Nah, stick to your guns man. Point out that he is seriously risking wrist injury for what most likely is minimal/non existent gains over what he is already doing

End your day hanging on the pull up bar until complete failure, weighted if necessary
Grip strength = forearm building
Forearm isolations = forearm buidling with risk of debilitating injury to wrist that will kill your entire weightlifting routine
