Napster had gotten popular around this time. I had downloaded songs that I couldn't find for decades. In August 2001, my buddy had stopped through while I had these old songs playing on Napster in the basement. He tried to pretend he wasn't paying these songs he hadn't heard in decades any attention. Anyway, I told him I was having a little fight party later that night. He wounded up being two hours early, just so he could hear these old school songs I was playing...lol.

I had a another small gathering a few weeks later with just me, him, and a mutual friend. Btw, I had just brought a medium sizes sun-setter to go on my back deck that summer. I also bought the screen-room attachment. So I had put a tv in this sun-setter-screen room, so I could have fight parties and cookouts in my backyard. Me and my two buddies reminisced for at least three hours that night, while I had Napster playing, which became my new radio around this time. That was the last time I saw my buddy. He was killed in 9/11 at the Pentagon about a month later. However I did talk to him a week before 9/11. He had called to ask me if I was having the upcoming Hopkins vs Trinidad fight. Plus he told me his wife was pregnant with their first child. That fight was going to be in New York, but it wounded up being postponed until later that month because of 9/11. I wounded up having a full house that night for the Hopkins vs Trinidad fight, but without my buddy there, whose remains still hadn't been recovered, it felt as though I was watching that entire fight thru a glass wall, wearing shades, with the sound turned low.

Anyone old enough to get in clubs at that time? How was it when Lil Jon and Lil Scrappy “Head Bussas” came on. Did fights break out :picard:
I wasn't old enough but I did get into a few clubs that summer. This club, I forget the name, was real lack when it came to checking id's. One of my cousins put me on to it. 2001 was also the first summer I went to a club and got wasted. :mjgrin:I was 17 but turned 18 that November. That period of time of senior year of high school to sophomore year of college was crazy for me! :blessed::picard:

Breh I remember that period of Suge getting out. I used to be on the Death Row Records official message boards and I remember how hyped we were that Suge was coming home. Thought we going to get some classics from the new artist he had like Crooked I but we didn't get shyt. :stopitslime:

I was also on the official DPG message boards and remember Daz used to post his ramblings and shyt! :mjlol:

Probably one of my favorite summer vacations. Went to Florida for like two weeks. Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios. Came back home and I think my sister had bought "In Search Of.." Legit would wake up play, Final Fantasy IX with "In Search Of..." on repeat for like three hours. Hoops at the park (First year they let me walk to the park on my own) and back home by 6 for DBZ.

Having fun. Waking up, doing chores, then heading outside to play ball or chill. If I was inside I was playing StarCraft, Diablo, Nintendo shyt, etc.

During the summer it felt like I had a “home base” more than a house because I’d be gone for hours and only go back for water/food lol. Usually my mom was fine with this since I’d do my chores before leaving. But sometimes I had to sneak back into the house and get a drink, hoping my mom wouldn’t notice I was back and tell me to clean something up.

I was on SOHH...

:pachaha:

Mystic‘s Cuts for Luck and Scars for Freedom is possibly the best album from that year..

:usure:

Hell yes I'm sure...only using that smiley because it's the only Female one we have word to @Orbital-Fetus

Sticky Fingers - Black Trash got steady plays...

A lot of good music that year though, furreals..
