I changed job every year and a half. When i interview and they askin me how much im lookin for, i say i make 20k more than i what make, meaning if im gonna change job it gotta be worth it.How did you do it, if you don’t mind me asking?
I don't have any questions, but I've been in Info. Tech for approximately 15 years, so it's good to see others here doing well in the tech field as well.
The initial tech experience I gained via the Marine Corps has been indispensable; that on top of the Veteran status.
Everything isn't a competition and @Stuntone stated he has been living good to great over the years; sounds like he's been hustlin' forward at his pace...
Great advice! Thank you. So if one is starting from scratch, what certs should they start with?I changed job every year and a half. When i interview and they askin me how much im lookin for, i say i make 20k more than i what make, meaning if im gonna change job it gotta be worth it.
the most important shyt is to :
- have your resume speak for you. Gotta be well prepared.Write actionable shyt you did
-interview well. Ask good questions
If you wanna know what jobs you can apply for, look at the career trajectory for your position. That whole sys admin 1-> sys admin 2 -> sys admin 3, is slow progress![]()

It depends you can get any cert that allows you to do tech support(CCNA, MCDST, or CST) its all about getting your foot in the door . From there , you can get other certs like project management. It all depends on what you like doing.Great advice! Thank you. So if one is starting from scratch, what certs should they start with?
I've worked in cybersecurity for years and never seen a master's listed as a requirement. You will most likely not earn more money than someone without one. So you have to weigh how much more this would put you into debt.I’m thinking about getting my masters in cyber security. Help me. Is it worth it?
Should I do a cert instead?
Can you volunteer to gain experienceI've worked in cybersecurity for years and never seen a master's listed as a requirement. You will most likely not earn more money than someone without one. So you have to weigh how much more this would put you into debt.
Experience and then certifications seem to trump a degree in most cases.
That depends on your technical level and knowledge already. Looking for volunteer work without requisite knowledge in a subject is likely doomed to failure. The stakes are usually too high in cybersecurity for lots of volunteers. Can you volunteer to gain experience

You should be a semi-expert on Tryhackme and Htb to even think about jumping in this field. Because you'll be way ahead of most people faking it and just waiting to get exposed.
Someone said to make sure your resume is on point and interview well. That shyt is gospel. The resume gets you the interviews...the interview gets you the job. Do great in both areas. You'd be suprised how many good candidates fail because they can't sell themselves in interviews. Interview regularly even if it's for jobs you're not really interested in. Makes you comfortable with selling yourself and getting used to the types of questions asked.
You don’t need experience. Gets certs, study/lab and lie on your resume….done. If you do this correctly you can pull 100k easily. In a couple years you will be aiming for 150-200k instead. So what's the best way to gain experience
