Yes. They were always overrated talent wise

-Crap Bench
-No spacing
-Starting Center literally on one leg and mostly a non factor(6/4 in 17 MPG)
-Worst starting PG in the league who was TERRIBLE in the playoffs. Had people believing Aaron brook was a future star

Ariza was a Career Journeymen before 09' and has been since leaving the Lakers. He was their 4th best player in the Playoffs

Ariza, Kobe, Bynum, Gasol... damn.

they were a great team, won 65 games in the regular season, they caught a break with yao and tmac being hurt in the second round, and KG ripping his knee up.

They got some breaks. If Yao was healthy, I don't know if they get past Houston to be honest with you.

However, Gasol was at the top of his game.

Overrated. A healthier Houston team would've beaten them and won the ship that season.

That 2009 Houston team is up their with the 2000 jailblazers and 2002 kings for best team to never win it

Underrated team wise, overrated talent wise.

At the time, people would have you believe that they were the most talented team in the league but they played to their strengths very well and executed even better. Their offense ran more like a Bulls team those 3-peat Lakers. Very finesse even though Kobe, Odom, and Gasol worked through the post fairly often. The way they rant he triangle was very fun to watch because they played at a fast pace but could play any style of basketball the other team wanted to play.

Phil had those guys on a mission from the jump and he talked about it extensively in his book.

Kobe was good for 27-30/5/5 almost every game, Gasol would get you 18/10, and Odom would go for 13/10. After that, the talent dropped off immensely.

I think Kobe powering that team to 3 straight Finals is a very, very underrated aspect in his career. Same with Phil.

Gasol's game has steadily declined every season with the lakers. His best year sight the lakers was the season he got traded got them.

Gasol was redeeming himself for last year, but to be honest a lot of that teams success was the dynamic play of Kobe/Pau and Bynum's presence inside as a huge body taking up space in the paint. All the other shyt was hit or miss, Ariza became a good role player under Kobe but I wouldn't want us overrating this nikka.

Without Bynum nothin special happens that season. He's the only underrated piece that season.

I'll never understand why ppl overrate air a that year. He wasn't even on 2004 Prince level

2010 was a great year, the Biggest Movie Ever starring The Greatest Show on Earth vs the scummy lowdown non-GOAT franchise celtics. A blockbuster classic for the ages....:ohlawd:
