Underrated team wise, overrated talent wise.

At the time, people would have you believe that they were the most talented team in the league but they played to their strengths very well and executed even better. Their offense ran more like a Bulls team those 3-peat Lakers. Very finesse even though Kobe, Odom, and Gasol worked through the post fairly often. The way they rant he triangle was very fun to watch because they played at a fast pace but could play any style of basketball the other team wanted to play.

Phil had those guys on a mission from the jump and he talked about it extensively in his book.

Kobe was good for 27-30/5/5 almost every game, Gasol would get you 18/10, and Odom would go for 13/10. After that, the talent dropped off immensely.

I think Kobe powering that team to 3 straight Finals is a very, very underrated aspect in his career. Same with Phil.
at the end of his physical prime too....

I didn't like the 2010 team as much. They were slower and ran more through the post.

My favorite game was Denver Game 6. :ohlawd:

So perfect.

Just a pretty team to watch. Not like all the other championship teams after 2010.

At the time the lakers had the best front court in the league and it wasn't even close.

2 7 footers with great post game, and the ultimate swizz army knife in Lamar odom. Couple that with a top 2 SG, GOAT coach and solid role players

The frontcourt was very good when healthy but like I said, after Kobe, Gasol, and Odom, the talent dropped off a cliff in 2009 because of Bynum's injuries.

Looking back, they weren't as talented as the current Heat or past Lakers teams. That's why I called them overrated talent wise.

they didn't have the talent (as in names) of this heat team but i would pick them to win in a series against the heat.

huge advantage in the paint

better coach

better play as a unit

So after the top 10 all-time player, and the two versatile bigs capable of 20/10 the talent dropped off huh? :heh: Of course the no salary cap teams of the past had more talent but at the time who can you honestly say had more? Only team I can think of is Boston and KG was hurt. The fact that they were able to do what they did with Bynum being hurt is a testament to the talent on that squad.

After Lebron, Wade, and Bosh who is the Heat's best player...Shane Battier? Mario Chalmers? This aint' baseball. Talent at the top is really all that matters in the NBA.

Overrated. A healthier Houston team would've beaten them and won the ship that season.

That 2009 Houston team is up their with the 2000 jailblazers and 2002 kings for best team to never win it

If Yao didn't go down the Lakers would of beat the Rockets in 5. It was going to be a backdoor sweep. The Lakers started dominating the Rockets after the Game 1 loss. Lakers prepared for Yao centric team the day before Game 4 and found out Yao would be out that night. That gave the Rockets an advantage and they utilized it at home.

I thought this team was better than the 2010 team. They would indeed beat the 08 Celtics.

I think rockets with a healthy Yao would've won in 6. We were too deep and had no answer for Aaron brooks or Yao. Fisher couldn't handle brooks or Lowry. Y'all had no answer for Yao in the high post or low post.

Kobe made the play of the series when he drove recklessly into yaos knees.

I don't think y'all remember how talents that rockets team was. We had Landry, and Lowry off the bench along with wafer and Brent Barry.

Y'all had tube edit of missing out on Yao Mutumbo and tmac.

Brandon Roy said after he retired that rockets team was the most talented team he faced on the postseason and they went against that Dallas team that beat Miami .
