why did BET cancel rap city?
Rap was going in a different direction, they had to follow instructions.
why did BET cancel rap city?
As for the crowd
There, a lot of the females there aren't actually fans of hip-hop, their strippers and Instagram models. My friend that I knew since hs was there for the whole weekend. She's not a professional model, but does real good on Instagram and do local shoots. Most of the women there were like her.
It's a proven fact that African Americans don't mature correctly as others do here. We don't come to grips of the issue until we are in our mid 30's - 40's and by then it's too late.
You 40 and still can't reach the maturity of a wild 25 year old?

Why else you hear these 40 year old men talk about what Pac and BIG were thinking about when they died at 24/25?You 40 and still can't reach the maturity of a wild 25 year old?

Think about this, 2Pac said himself that he did not want to live old and broke. He knew that being a rapper in his 30's and beyond was irresponsible to the youth. After a king dies, another steps in to take its place. We had, 2Pac, Ice Cube, Rakim, NaS, Biggie, and others who all were kings at one point. Someone else came in and took the throne. Now it's the same person over and over who claims king. Kings are suppose to lose crowns. If you are claiming king or the best rapper alive for more than five years then something is not right.
you got a name?
The scene changed. Why you see Wayne at 31 still talking about eating p*ssy and c00ning and Jay still the king of NY at 44 dropping struggle bars on his latest effort. Outside of Kendrick and Cole, there is no one that can claim king nowadays.
Fans are finicky nowadays, they are hard to keep amused. How can you be a king if you cannot control your own people? There are no kings today because there are none that threaten the throne. Kings are supposed to go to war with other kings and their kingdoms. Regions/kingdoms in hip-hop do not exists because everyone raps and follow the same code. Hip-Hop as a culture is on its last legs. Long over due anyway.
Blame it on the nikkas that voluntarily gave it away to the highest bidder. We fukked it up and we need to have accountability for all the shyt we fukked up on. Can't even blame the white man for Hip Hop's artistic downfall cause nikkas love to copy one another and stay on the same limited issues. The Video hoe shyt, the one sided gangsta shyt, the ballin tip. We ignored the wise words of Chuck D and we are paying the price, finally. Chickens come home to roost and karma will end all of the bullshyt.

Yep, Chuck D the God was right about what he said would happen to the culture back in 1998.
Not really, you have artists that are focusing on the art, and not trying to become super stars. Those are the guys that are making the best music now, mixtapes are whats keeping it alive and thriving.
As long as competition is alive and its a blood sport, Drake can have the mainstream, some of the best rappers are unsigned at the moment. Only rappers signed are those with mass appeal from the south doing mostly jungle music or have weak skill sets like Drake and J. Cole but are very marketable to women and high schoolers.
The crazy thing is that this Hip Hop show may be the last time you see a bunch of black rap artists on struggle bars and bullshyt. Next year, we either gonna see a bunch of improvement, or see white artists doing it better than we did. It has begun, when the world sees how far we fell off and how much leechers took this artform for granted, we deserve all the hate we did.
That's why I want K Dot and Cole to do better and be the faces of next gen rap. They are among the few MCs that will save us from all the poor quality we seen tonight.
