40 times are overrated. Hell, Jerry Rice only ran a 4.7:merchant: Which means i'm faster than he was(I ran track):whoo:

Dude didn't have proper training at MVSt. They probably didn't have a weight room or certified trainers back then. Al Toon was in the same draft and was just as good Jerry until he got injured. Once JR got to the league he did a lot of training, especially sprint training. I am sure that dude became a 4.4 guy through hard work and proper running technique. No way dude was running 4.7 and dominating, getting past DBs with regularly and picking up YACs like tic tacs.

If you run a 4.7 as a receiver, you better be a great route runner and have great hands. And in Rice's case, he did.

But its a different era though. This league now is all about speed. And RB is a position predicated on it. I don't want a back that runs as slow as or even slower than lineman and linebackers.

Yeah makes sense, I had a hard time believing that was the best he could do.

lol at picking up .3 in a 40 through running technique and shyt

yall just refuse to accept the facts. 40 time is not indicative of how a receiver will turn out

boldin ran 4.7 too. so what ?

Rice was built for timing offenses and was prolly the best route runner ever.

there is a story (might be an urban legend but w/e) that Rice ran a 40 right after his first one with the same time. and he did it like 3 times in a row without much fluctuation.

basically Rice wasnt a sprinter, but he was consistent.
