Nah that's pretty accurate. He doesn't make mistakes. Puts the ball where it needs to be. But he's not going to show you any flashes of brillance. And he's sitting behind the college version of the Iron Curtain. And he's got 4 and 5 star recievers. I really don't know know how to judge him. I don't think he's that good.
He seems like he'd be a great backup NFL QB
let me explain.
I've discussed this before when giving praise to Charlie Batch as the GOAT backup QB.
If 'Backup NFL Quarterback' was a job posting on Monster.com
Qualifications:
College Football starter with moderate to strong success.
Ability to end games with little to no notice prior to substitution.
Risk averse, patient, and a focus on protecting the football.
Minimal interceptions.
Ability to finish football game when provided a 4 point lead, without turning ball over to opposition.
Consistantly healthy.
No expectation to start football games, or to threaten starter for his job.
AJ McCarron would be a 5 star candidate.
Other guys who fit this mold well, throughout history:
Charlie Batch, JT O'sullivan, Doug Flutie, Todd Collins...
But it doesn't work like that I guess.
