Okada's great but I must be missing something or just not buying into smark groupthink with his finisher, because it's pretty basic and doesn't look that cool.
Its the way the other guy looks DEAD when it hits, how nobody kicks out of it, how they tease it throughout matches and how people try their hardest to escape it because they know its a death sentance. The announcer goes nuts too...Its not a LAST RIDE type of impact move but its sold as such and that matters in wrestling. Its entertaining to me

The biggest joke was dana being a better promoter than Vince McMahon. UFC this year was a JOKE with awful business decisions/matches/and just boneheaded stuff...Vince was way better than him.

LOW KEY

Promoter of the year was FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. and its pretty unarguable.

Just.....I can't even insult you correctly breh

Im`a a grown man with a full time job fiance and a baby on the way.

You think I got time to listen to a bunch of Japanese motherfukkers talking that shyt about wrestlers I have zero connection to and have to hunt down like a CIA agent just to watch their matches?

I have hard enough time keeping up with the American wrestling products.

I wouldn't say that Vince was better (the handling of Daniel Bryan alone disqualifies him from winning a best promoter award), but UFC has indeed been AWFUL at times this year due to oversaturation and overextension. If you're going to give New Japan half of the awards anyway, wouldn't this have to be one of those awards, seeing as they actually expanded successfully in a major way this year?

Also, anyone saying that Japanese feuds should be disqualified from the best feud award because you can't understand what is being said both doesn't watch Puro and has no idea what Puro is even really about (or, really, storytelling in wrestling for that matter). I understand next to no Japanese and can tell you that, say, anything Toru Yano's done has been better than damn near every WWE feud booked this year. Feuding is about far more than just cutting promos, and if you understand that, then you probably understand why these New Japan feuds are winning these awards year in and year out.

ure

To me, I can't sit throught the matches in general. I can't watch a match without commentary, I feel they go hand in hand.

And sure you can show a feud without promos, I just don't enjoy that. I feel the promos and segments that lead up to a feud are what make it so great, that's the beauty of wrestling.

- Jericho busting Shawn's head off the jeritron.
- CM Punk's pipe bomb promo
- Dusty Rhodes hard times promo

These promos made feuds into classic entertainment. Imagine all them feuds without the promos and segments

Ok and? All that has nothing to do with these awards. Its not wrestler observer newsletter awards that caters to lastemp knowledge and awareness. I barely know half to dudes myself but I'm not saying change them around because I don't understand them or watch it

Funny enough, TNA shytting the bed with Okada gave him the time (out of boredom I suppose) to craft the Rainmaker character.

As far as the Japanese stuff not deserving awards because no one is watching it legally or it being difficult to get...I can kinda see that point of view. But wrestling is an art, man. There's just a different way of painting the shyt in Japan for the most part. It's more like a sporting event over there, and as such there's not much I need to understand. This guy is champ, the other guy wants to take him down. Good enough for me. If there's extra I just google the shyt. But most of the time it's just that any damn way. I must say, i'm not anywhere near as high on Tanahashi as Meltzer. Nakamura is my dude. His whole energy caught my attention when I was getting back into NJPW this year.

Back to Okada, the Rainmaker is indeed a simple finish mechanically. It's a lariat with a little pizazz in the beginning. But the way guys sell it, how over it is and the way he puts his fukking arm THROUGH people damn near is nice. But remember, a sweet chin music is just a kick to the chin when someone else does it. A Clothesline from Hell is just a lariat. A spear is a fukking tackle. Simple gets the job done sometimes.
