Was this supposed to be surprising? Shouldn't a V6 be faster than a 4 banger?
No. This is a turbocharged 4-cylinder. It does make a lil' more power, but the old V6 Mustang gets nearly the same gas mileage and is just as quick. The new one probably handles better though

Depends on multiple factors.

A naturally-aspirated 3.7 liter V-6, 304 HP, 280 ft-lbs of torque.
The turbo-charged 2.3 inline-4 makes 314 HP, 230 ft-lbs of torque.
:lupe:
The turbo-charged engine will shift the power band so that the max torque is reached sooner than in the V-6 engine. So, even though the V-6 makes a max of 280, the turbo will hit its 230 ft-lbs before the V-6 hits 230 ft. lbs. in a 0-60 MPH race.
aybe in a 0-120 MPH race, the V-6 may catch up to the inline 4 because the inline-4's powerband has peaked early while the V-6 can continue going up.

True....but the new Ecoboost has way more than 230 pound-feet of torque.---at least on the spec sheet.

Oh 320 ft-lbs.
That makes sense. A Subaru 2.0 liter that's turbo-charged makes 258 ft-lbs.

I wouldn't buy either v8 or bust...unless it was for a girl then i'd understand

If you can't afford the v8 just get a more practical vehicle that is more comfortable and roomier
