Brehs, how do y'all feel about Zach Mettenberger from LSU?

ESPN being ESPN more than anything else. Look, if it was just about talent, I could see the case. But we are talking about NFL QB. This is like college hoops. For college, Michael Beasley was the best his year and Derrick Rose was 2nd. For the NBA, it became clear at the combine and watching tape that Rose was going to be a much better NBA player. FF three years and Rose is a MVP and Beasley is getting traded left and right. Not saying this is Teddy to Manizel, just saying that this is a different league. I really feel Teddy is getting hit because he isn't the prototype Black QB and people really haven't seen a truly cerebral Black QB like Teddy. It's a unfair knock that is killing him with some racist scouts. But it is what it is and from the film, he has show to be a fantastic QB prospect. Manizel is clearly talented but from a close friend who is a big Manizel supporter said it best. Manizel out of the pocket style of play is like Vick but in the pocket is like Matt Stafford. He goes through his progressions but he just doesn't give a fukk and he is a mechanical nightmare as well. He wasn't talking about abilities, just playing styles. I wholeheartedly agreed. So with Manizel, it will be hit or miss. Off the field, he is going to be like Brett Farve but instead of country, Johnny is more white boy hip hopish. On the field, that was the best comparison I've heard and ever made about Manizel.@#1 pick
what do you make of Kiper saying Manziel is going to get picked over T.Bridgewater. Dont understand this though since we haven't even been through the combine...
Mettenberger is getting overrated and I agree with that. His offensive squad is as good as I can remember one at LSU since JaMarcus was there.A dumber less talented mike Glennon with a bigger arm
Let's be rural handing off the ball to Jeremy hill and throwing to Landry and Beckham is not hard to do.
Some team will marvel at his size and arm and draft him in the first three rounds though
I can't agree with that. Watching tape, he's a 1st rounder without question. He is a better prospect than Jake Locker and playing style is like Andrew Luck but ability wise is closer to Jake Locker. Locker was a top 10 pick and has had injury issues dating back to his time in Seattle at Washington. Bortles is tough with a clean bill of health. He is not a very impressive prospect but he is good prospect to me.NOTHING that I have seen from Bortles would make me draft him at any point in the first round. Now maybe it's the play calling but he throws A LOT of quick and short passes and even his down field throws aren't impressive. To even hear him being talked about as possibly being in the top 10 has GOT TO BE a smoke screen. Short of like how the draft riser at QB last season was suppose to be Ryan Nassib, but eventually he was drafted right in the round he should have been.
johnny football doesnt remind me of this?

With that said, I think he is much like Chad Henne with far more accuracy. He isn't quite as cerebral as Chad coming out of Michigan.
Mike Glennon should have been a 2nd rounder. The fact that he fell so late was due to the anti-hype of last year class. They performed at a higher level than Eli as a rookie. I am sorry, I think this class E.J. aside is getting too much negativity. E.J. has a lot to show me. A lot. He really didn't look that good for the most part. He looked like Jason Campbell. I was more impressed with Thad Lewis honestly.

Note: At this point, I've only watched 6 games from this season alone of Bortles and it was recently.

These draft pundits really slurping this guy Bortles..... oh wait, this is the draft for Chistrian Ponder from three years ago.Accuracy: Zips the underneath routes with good accuracy; consistently hitting receivers in stride to best take advantage of teammates' athleticism on quick slants and screens. Keeps his deep-outs low and outside, away from the defender and where only his intended target can make the play. Occasionally forces the receiver to adjust on deeper passes, as his lack of dominant arm strength can cause the ball to float.
Arm Strength: Doesn't own a Matthew Stafford-type howitzer, but has plenty of arm strength to make every NFL throw. Good zip on underneath routes; showcasing enough drive to push the ball through tight windows for the quick slant. Good timing and accuracy make up for a lack of a dominant arm for the deep-out. Effective deep-ball thrower; able to launch the ball 50-plus yards with velocity and trajectory.
Setup/Release: Quick setup and a compact, over-the-top delivery. Good footwork. Willing to take a hit to set his feet and step into his throw. Experienced under center and operating out of the shotgun. Passes have a tight spiral, making his throws easy for his wideouts to track and catch easily.
Reading Defenses: Some legitimate concerns in this area. Has to do a better job of looking off the defender, as he has a tendency to stare-down his primary target. Doesn't always feel the pressure coming when he makes his progressions, especially if his primary target is unexpectedly covered up. Made some critical mistakes late in games throughout his career, including several times in 2010.
On the Move: Mobile quarterback with the vision, agility and straight-line speed to escape the pocket and scramble for positive yardage. Can be too aggressive and leave himself vulnerable to absorbing big hits by electing not to slide. Has a good sense in the pocket. Willing to step up into the pocket or scramble wide, allowing defenders to rush by as he keeps his eyes downfield. Good body control to throw on the move, making him an effective dual threat out of the bootleg. Squares his shoulder and has plenty of arm-strength to drive the ball into mid-range openings in the defense. Can freeze the defender with an effective pump-fake. Knows where the first down marker is and fights hard for the required yardage, showing determination and better than expected leg-drive. Not afraid to get his jersey dirty as a runner or even as a blocker/tackler.
Intangibles: Carries himself like an NFL quarterback. Highly respected team captain who takes his role as a leader seriously. Comfortable leading vocally or by setting the example on and off the field. Earned his Master's Degree in finance and is working on his doctorate.
He played four years, he's a smart guy, he came from a pro-style offense where he's had to do the reads and he's had to make the throws. He's also a mobile guy. Christian Ponder's got a lot of things going for him." – Buffalo Bills General Manager Buddy Nix
