Some of the most important developments at the NFL scouting combine happen behind closed doors — the medical and character evaluations of most of the 323 players attending — but the on-field product matters to a certain degree, too.

We’ve collected our data, sent out a barrage of text messages and calls to NFL evaluators and put it all together to determine who has helped themselves in Indianapolis and who has not.

(Note: This was written prior to some of the linebackers and defensive backs working out, so we’ll update you on their performances later.)

Here are the winners and losers:

WINNERS

Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota

They’re not guaranteed to be the first two picks in the draft, but their decision to throw at the combine did not hurt them at all. In fact, it might have solidified that the on-field products for both — while far different from each other — are good to very good.

Byron jones 12'3 broad jump:ohhh:

Thr olympic record is 12'2:wow:
He's a pretty decent player to boot. The shoulder needs to check out though, seems to be type of injury that may be re-occurring.

Guys that player both Safety and CB in college always peak my interest in terms of a developmental FS. He'll probably get over-drafted now with this combine performance.

10/25/14 - Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and miss the remainder of the season. Coach Bob Diaco says the Huskies senior captain has a history of shoulder problems and was injured against during the first half of Thursday night's 31-21 loss at No. 18 East Carolina. Diaco says Jones should be healed in time to prepare for the NFL draft in the spring, and should be "better than new." Jones likely will be replaced in the Huskies lineup by true freshman Jamar Summers or John Green, a converted wide receiver. Jones had 24 tackles and two interceptions for the Huskies (1-6) this season, including one he returned 70-yards for a touchdown against South Florida. He finished his career with 223 tackles and eight interceptions. - AP Sports

07/24/14 - Other AAC prospects to watch in 2014: CB Byron Jones, Connecticut, RS Senior...After starting his career at safety to get on the field, Jones moved back to his more natural position at cornerback last season, leading the team with three interceptions. He has good size and length for the position and tackles like a safety with smooth pedal in reverse, but his read/react ability is only average with suspect transitional quickness and recovery speed. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

you can tell who really watches and knows football and who just watched the combine...them scouts gave him a stay in school for a reason...now there may be some idiot team that does not watch the tape and takes him, but I watched him get targeted time and time again by SEC schools over the years, he's terrible..

may be a special teams player tho:ehh: but other than that:camby:
