I don't think it's a stretch to say Mariota can at least be on Russel Wilson's level.

But given Tennessee's staff, roster and scheme, dude can be RW to the rest of the Titans being like the Seahawks.

I think they have a team.
:heh: "at least" like its that simple to do what russ has done in this league

If he can run as well as Russell Wilson he'll be good in this league. If not...ehh..

But that's why I think he can be on the same level. If Russ can't run, he's not as effective either. Russ is a good passer, but Mariota has an arm as well and I liked what he has show pre-snap also.

All I'm saying, with a QB guru/offensive genius like Ken Whisenhunt mentoring Mariota, dude has a lot of potential as a "real" QB.

There are few coaches who are better at developing and working with QB's:

Won a ring with Big Ben.
Got Kurt Warner to a Super Bowl and revitalized his career.
Helped revitalize Philip Rivers' career.

I think considering all of Whisenhunt's history Mariota's in good hands.

It's not about just your talent, but who can help you develop and the situation you land in.

If Jameis learned from him, :wow:.

Breh, the play action from under center was a mainstay of his offense.

Believe it or not RG3 made throws from under center off play action breh. I'm talking about seeing tight window throws....I havent seen that....and honestly I dont expect it. Like I said he can still be good without having to many tight/tough throws.

Stop it breh, that O was 1 or 2 reads @ best.

He's running a pro style O and calmly going thru his progressions. He's going to make his share of mistakes, but he seems way more comfortable in the pocket than Bob. And Tenn is smart to make him play this way instead of trying to mimic Oregon's o yo make him more comfortable.

Bob got ROY running a gimic system that had a shelf life. Being whenever he got hurt, they would have to change it. Shanny shoulda just ran his normal O w/ rollouts off playaction designed to throw. There were way too manu designed runs in thay gimic sh1t. Now Bob looks punch drunk and shook of a pass rush.

He's better in the pocket than RG3 but Mariota is getting better overall protection too. The pain rush didn't truly constrict his pocket much until the throw that was almost picked. Mariota's other throws largely involved movement and wide open windows, similar to RG3. Once teams get acclimated to Mariota, his efficacy will be based more on what he can do from a constricting pocket.

That offensive line in Tampa is terrible. I wouldn't even draft a rookie QB to play behind that line.....

Seriously. If Jameis went to Tennessee, that'd be a great situation for everybody.

I'm going on record and saying it here before it gets lost: Jameis is a better QB than Mariota and has the higher potential.

But because of where he landed, Jameis has less of a chance reaching that potential.

Taking hits behind a flimsy offensive line to start your NFL career can be damaging to your confidence and psyche, whereas Tennessee has a great line. If Jameis had as much time as Mariota has had tonight, shyt wouldn't be fair.

Also that defense that will force quick 3 and outs.

When defenses get tired because their offense vs the Titans' defense is making them be out on the field longer, the Titans are going to wear them out and make them pay.

He's legit being set up to fail.

Watching him last week was flat out depressing. He had no time at all.

Lovie Smith also isn't the best coach on the offensive side either.
