Yeah I was one of those people who said if KD go to SA or GS it is over...but now that I see what the warriors had to relinquish to get him :patrice:

Gonna have to see what their final roster looks like...Zaza as your starting center and west as your first big off the bench is not going to get it done...
they will have the same rebounding problems the Heat had when they got Bosh & Bron but they're even smaller... i can see them getting out rebounded but 15-20 a night... :laff: plus Bogut was their best illegal screener...:lolbron:

So the warriors have loss Bogut, Barnes, Ezeli, Barbosa, Rush, and I'd be shocked if they keep speights cause I think they can only offer him the minimum...

KD is a top 5 players but they essentially lost half their team to sign him :patrice:...and ever one of these guys had some good stretches for them at least once over the last two years:patrice:
All them dudes was unreliable besides Barbosa. I'm happy they're gone.

this is exactly what i said Day One but nikkas said i don't kno basketball...:ehh: we'll see when they don't make the Finals...
Because you don't know.

i) First you claimed that Iggy would be gone - he's not - he's staying
ii) Then you said it would "gut" their team - it hasn't. They've still got Livingston, Iggy, added McCaw, Zaza, West and closing in on Dedmon and potentially another wing.

:dahell:

They actually got better as a rebounding unit - particularly when they go small. Not a chance they get out-rebounded 15-20 a night - just wishful thinking on your part. Not to mention Zaza probably sets better screens than Bogut does....

From Reddit -

One of the better masked deficiencies of the Warriors during their two year run was their defensive rebounding and inability to keep athletic bigs off their boards in key moments.

This weakness, however, constantly reared its ugly head in the WCF as well as the Finals. OKC had an Offensive Rebounding % of 27.7% in the WCF - a slight drop off from their regular season leading 31.1%, but still good enough to place them 2nd in the regular season. The Cavs on the other hand posted an even higher ORB% of 28.4%, a full 3% higher than their regular season average. It's clear that the warriors had no plan to stop the O boards and any switch to their small-ball lineup merely exacerbated this existing disadvantage.

Aside from being one of the greatest offensive players on the planet, defensive rebounding is an area where Kevin Durant greatly helps the Warriors. Kevin Durant is a very good defensive rebounder and is heads and shoulders better than the player he replaced - Harrison Barnes:
Jx29B6c.png

From the table above, it's obvious that Durant dominates Barnes in almost all the DRB statistical categories. The only area where Durant loses out to Barnes in is the % of contested DRBs he gets. However, this is unimportant because Barnes' numbers here are likely propped up by how few of his chances he actually rebounds: 52.1%. For comparison, Durant rebounds 74.3% of his chances.

To put Durant's DRB% numbers in a league-wide context, Durant ranked #10 among all starting non-centers last year.

fwiw, Durant also led the league during the 2016 playoffs for the highest DRB% of all his chances.

Aside from improving the Warrior's defense, improved defensive rebounding also greatly helps one of the Warrior's greatest offensive strengths: transition offense. More defensive rebounding = more transition/semi-transition = more points.

tl;dr Durant = more defensive rebounding, Warriors shore up a huge weakness. RIP league.

Zaza averaged 9.4 rebounds in 26 minutes last season (12.9 per 36 minutes) - Bogut averaged 7.0 in 20 minutes last season (12.2 per 36 minutes). Not only did they replace Bogut with a better and more active rebounder, but they replaced Barnes with arguably the best rebounding SF in the league. Then you've got Draymond who averaged 9.5 rebounds last season.

I think it's safe to safe rebounding will not be a problem for this squad.

:damn:

Zaza ($2.9m/1-year) and Dedmon (?) aren't that far off of providing the same impact as Noah ($72m/4-year) and Biyombo ($72m/4-year) - Zaza especially, and GS is potentially getting both of them for a fraction of the price. You can't make this shyt up.
