They insured themselves against an unpredictable future. That's the point of these long term deals. At some point,it becomes impractical to gamble money you do need for excess profits you don't need.

If you see this as "losing money" you should be criticizing the agents signing deals now too when the market suggests the cap is going to keep going up.

Yup .. Jordan clarkson, for instance, coulda waited one more year and easily commanded almost double what he signed for

Biyombo is too small and actually not even as good as mozgov .. But either way, Zubac is the future at center, mozgov is just comin to be our bogut for a couple seasons and mentor him in the mean time
Biyombo has a 7'6" wingspan and a 9'3" standing reach - what he doesnt have in height, he easily makes up in length

Or just as easily get hurt or have a crappy season and sign for nowhere near the ridiculous contract he's getting. Its a gamble. When these players and agents cash in, they're set for life (in theory) so I can't blame them for not trying to gamble on it.

So...Even though Melo KNEW about the Cap increase impending...

He signed a long term deal with NY at less than the max...

And yet after all of these crazy contracts... is the narrative STILL going to be Melo was all about the money? :ohhh:

Absolutely, breh. Thoughts?

I just found it laughable that you (unsolicited btw) had the need to come defend your boy in this thread. "At less than the max." :mjlol:
Only took a $5 million paycut. :russ:
Remember when he played on a bum knee in past year's AS game at MSG just so he can promote his new sneakers??? Delayed the surgery on his patella tendon for 1-2 months.
I have a much bigger problem with the NTC than the actual contract itself.
