Part of the reason I liked Obama's speech was because he took a totally different approach from your normal Obama speech of "optimism" and "corrections of historical injustices to show how we change for the better." This time he recognized those injustices, highlighted their reasons for anger with a sense of anger himself. I felt that really hard.
