Nina Turner >>>> Barbara lee for Bernie anyway. Tulsi is a net negative for anybody at this point.

Some people say VP picks are inconsequential or at best serve as a connection to a particular voting bloc that you need to shore up...Nina is a young BLACK BLACK woman and would be able to connect with a demographic that he doesn't have a lot of connection with currently. Not only that...but whether she gets VP or not, she is really his right hand and most likely the successor to his movement in the now so there will be actual continuity moving forward rather than some mix and match bullshyt to try and concoct a winning ticket.
i think biden and a young black woman is a great ticket :yeshrug: frankly i dont know of any candidates offhand besides ayana pressley, but i would definitely fukk with that ticket

if tulsi hadn't just run for president, i wouldnt be bringing her up at all. but i do like that her name and face is out there, and that she's a veteran

Why not? If not her, who?
She is not an official currently in office for one and you think the American people are going to believe a former state senator is going to be president? Because that is what a VP is in 2020-someone who might just have to be president quite a bit because of these old ass people.

You're saying this while we have a game show host that made it into the white house with less experience as a government official than she does.

She's a strong female progressive which seems to be what Bernie's preference is for VP. She would actually help him connect with the one demographic that the media says he has trouble with (black voters, specifically black women) rather than just be window dressing/inconsequntial pick. She's not in her 70's, she wouldn't be leaving a void in the senate, there would be tight continuity between a Sanders/Turner presidency and as per your logic, she would essentially be the first woman (black woman at that) president which would put the weight of history behind such a ticket.

None of the candidates running or who have run are on Bernie's wave. Eliesabeth is donzo and if it's between two 70+ year old women just pick Barbara Lee and call it a day.

There is no way Sanders can put another leftist on the ticket. The establishment centrist wing of the party will be selecting the VP if he wins the nomination. It'll be a woman they can get on board with, like Maggie Hassan or Debbie Stabenow. Gretchen Whitmer would have been a good pick if she hadn't won so recently.

It's naive to believe Bernie would be able to capture that demographic by trotting out Nina Turner of all people (she recently blasted older black voters as ignorant for supporting Biden). We should have learned by now that black people aren't going to support someone simply because they're black. Kamala Harris' lack of support should have indicated that. Nina Turner is nobody. She would bring absolutely nothing to a potential Bernie ticket. What influence does she have? What's her reputation outside the Bernie bubble?

Should add Amy Klobuchar and have Keith go for that senate seat :mjpls:

i could only imagine amy taking over if bernie died

  • health care for all
  • free college
  • erase debt
  • $15 min wage
  • green new deal

Lmfao. I feel you but if you going for a woman, that’s the most reliable slot outside of the coasts. You can’t put Gilibrand on there or Harris. You put someone like Tammy Baldwin and you have to wonder if anyone else can win in Wisconsin. Amy might be his best option.

First of all, Kamala Harris and Nina Turner ain't the same kind of "black". Secondly I didn't say people would support her JUST because of that factor, they would support her because they support the movement that she represents. What it does help is if it were to be seen as likely that she would be his successor it may excite black voters, particularly female at least before we get to the GE because if he makes it that far he's going to get the black vote anyway.

I guess Amy Klobachar it is :russ:

this...they seem content on thinking that wing of the party wins a national election without inroads or connections to the moderate wing

What happened to blue no matter who? Where moderates heading if Bernie wins the nom with another leftist on the ticket? Trump? They writing in Warren? Doubt it, and if they do it will kill a lot of talking points they have along with the party itself really.

New York Times Asks Buttigieg How He Counters ‘Mayo Pete Memes’ Mocking ‘Bland’, ‘White’ Style

NY Times Asks Buttigieg How He Counters 'Mayo Pete Memes'

The New York Times editorial board questioned 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on how he counters “Mayo Pete” memes which mock his “bland,” “white” style in an interview published Thursday.

In the interview, which the board is conducting with all candidates, New York Times opinion editor Aisha Harris asked Buttigieg, “How do you counter the ‘Mayo Pete’ memes? Are you familiar?”

The Times provided a comment explaining, “The ‘Mayo Pete’ memes feature Mr. Buttigieg’s supporters dancing to Panic! at the Disco’s ‘High Hopes’; the ‘mayo’ name plays on the idea that, as Mel Magazine explains, Mr. Buttigieg is seen by some as ‘bland and overwhelmingly white.'”

Buttigieg replied, “I’m not. Do I want to know?”

“You haven’t heard that expression?” asked editorial writer Brent Staples, as Harris added, “Well, mayonnaise as I think, and a lot of people think is really, really gross and there have been teens…”

Staples laughed.

“Anyway, people feel strongly about mayo. There have been younger people — there’s a meme going around called ‘Mayo Pete,’ and that I think does speak a little bit to the lack of youth support that you currently hold, even compared to those who are significantly older,” Harris continued.

“I get the white part,” Buttigieg declared, while Harris explained, “I didn’t mean to imply that you’re gross. That’s not what I meant.”

Later on in the interview, deputy editorial page editor Kathleen Kingsbury proclaimed Buttigieg was “No longer gross,” before Buttigieg revealed: “I actually hate flavored mayo.”
