I honestly have none. If I were to give an uninformed hot take, initially a Bernie/Warren ticket for me was unbeatable, but I can't see that happening now. I don't think he would go the Black route though. Probably white Male, Hispanic Male or white/Hispanic female.

I think he would go with someone with name recognition who can win him an important demographic.

Personally, if he gets the Dem nomination, he should be assured of black support. He would just need strong surrogates to keep interest high.

I agree about the Sanders/Warren ticket.

But as for the bold, he has already laid out his preference for VP, younger, strong progressive female that can take the progressive mantle and further the movement. Given that criteria, I can't think of a better pick. All of these people who don't like her but never say it can't possibly be Bernie Sanders supporters lol, she's is an exciting person to watch speak and she goes hard in the paint for the movement. Nobody besides AOC, who is too young for the job fits the bill to be Bernie's successor.

Most people aren’t sophisticated voters, regardless of skin color, people used to call Bill “the first black president” at a certain point (especially with older voters) name recognition is enough.

How does Biden, who was BFF with Strom Thurmond, attract so many older black voters?

How does Biden who wants medicare cuts attract more older voters?

He doesn't reduce their racial struggles down to classism.

And a lot of t of the views y'all hate about John Biden are echoed by a lot of older southern blacks.

That and the majority of the progressive platform doesn't directly target them.

I agree. The thing is that retirees are receiving more than they paid in(no fault of their own largely) and Social Security will be insolvent in 2030. I'm for expanding social security and medicare somehow and making sure all retirees are getting at least 40k a year at current cost to living rates. I'm happy for them and I'm not arguing that it is not helpful, I'm saying that it is insufficient. The fact that it is unclear how social security will continue and that they keep raising the full retirement age should give anyone our age pause.

Personally I'm a bit tired of everything being done on the backs of our generation while the previous generations punted. I set myself up so I won't rely on Social Security and I don't think I even pay into it so that's where I'm coming from. The cold centrist that I am.

My take is, if this shyt is really insolvent, or I need to be 75 to receive full benefits, knowing I pay the max into it each year and knowing Black people don’t live as long. Dissolve that shyt now, I can most definitely invest that $8000/yr in my own portfolio and keep myself afloat.
