Oh, this is different.

It's one thing for Warren Jr (Katie Porter) to endorse Liz, but I didn't expect Kranser to be involved at all, let alone this early. I'm a huge fan of Kranser so this is a pretty big deal for me personally.

Sanders has done more this cycle with regard to CJ reform, so I'd expect Kranser to endorse him if it were strictly on the merits. Perhaps she's going to drop something soon because she hasn't distinguished herself here.

I fukk with this endorsement HEAVY :win:

Krasner is fantastic :banderas:

Like you, I didn't expect him to endorse at this stage, and would have assumed he'd lean Bernie. This is a great win for Liz.

It would be nice if a couple of these top tier candidates would go campaign in KY and LA to give a little boost to tight governors races in those states. :ld:
I feel you, but do you think that would hurt the governor candidates in those races? I’m legitimately asking, because I don’t know.

:ohhh:

I would definitely make him AG. Plus he was probably impressed by Warren's answer moreso than Sanders.

I feel like Beto, Abrams, Gillium lost in 18 is because those races got too nationalized. Sure, it increased Dem turnout but it also made Republicans who would have sat out an off year to come out in droves. Idk just a theory.

No because both states have a history of voting in Dems in state positions. 8 out of the last 10 KY governors have been Dems. Bernie should go there and rally the blue collar vote.

Both races are even but Trump will be doing rallies there next week. Dems could use some of that teamwork. :francis:

Warren has stated we need police reform besides just criminal justice reform. Bernie have put out some decent proposals as well. I would like to see them both go further. However, I think they are both decent on this issues. As far as CJ reform Booker and Castro are probably the best on that specific issues, but neither one of them have a chance to win. Another thing to consider is the deals that are made behind the scenes. Warren could of promise a cabinet position.

I don't think she's bad, she's been good but indistinguishable from the rest of the field. Castro is the best at talking about these issues and threading the needle on intersectional ones in general. Booker has the most credibility on the issue given his history. However, Warren has done a better job of laying out a holistic approach than either of them. She's done this by tying the issue to her other proposals, but as you've said some of the specifics are lacking. Quite frankly, Harris has arguably done a better job than those two as far as plans go. I say that as someone whose first post on this site was criticizing her.

Sanders was the only one to correctly state that incarcerated persons should be allowed to vote. This is something that Canada, Germany, the Nordic states, Spain, Iceland, Ireland, and even Israel, an apartheid state, allows for. To my knowledge, he's the only one calling to "Ban of the Box", which I'm not presently in agreement with* but these show me that he's approaching this a little differently than the rest of the field.

I don't care for him, but I've always given him credit when it's owed.

Eh, it's not that I would expect him to be a Sanders lean I just don't think Warren has done enough publicly to earn it. We're not privy every interaction and he could just disagree with my assessment.

I think he's too green to be AG; however, Deputy AG under someone like Sally Yates makes sense. He could then be appointed to AG in a hypothetical second term. You definitely could be correct though.

That’s surprising because Sanders vouched for Krasner and worked with him before Warren ever did. They’ve even had town halls together. I would say that it’s the first endorsement of the cycle that is a genuine surprise.

I always fall back to Bitcofer on this. Republican turnout definitely spiked but in all three of those cases, I feel that a more concerted effort to help voters get out to the polling stations (in the face of the voter suppression that was occurring from the Republican side) would have been more than enough to overcome that. I also believe awareness of that problem is why both Abrams and Gillum shifted to those specific efforts. Just to bring it back to Bitcofer, one of her findings was that Republicans were indeed galvanized to show up but the blue wave overcame that in most instances. She mentioned in a Sam Seder interview that Dems are missing an obvious strategy when they don't put more effort into enhancing their own voter turnout (and she specifically referenced get out to vote efforts for Latinos in Texas if my memory serves).
