2020 Democratic Primary Thread: Focus on House & Senate races

Far be it from me to make a definitive statement on unnamed unsourced intimations about a meeting that happened a year ago which everyone reported on at the time...But I'd guess that Bernie didn't tell Warren a woman couldn't win based mainly on the fact that for most of the last 5 years it was a prevailing belief that Bernie only decided to run in 2016 after it was clear Warren wouldn't run. The going assumption on the left was that he only got in because she wouldn't...which at least suggests he had faith she could run an effective campaign. This is speculation like everything else though and I look forward to hearing Warren clear the air on this.

Why Bernie Sanders decided to run for president

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders first began mulling a run for the Democratic presidential nomination nearly two years ago because he wanted his progressive agenda to be taken more seriously, according to radio host Bill Press, who met with Sanders long before he launched his campaign publicly.

“You can be a senator and you can yap and yap and give speeches, and, you know it’s just another senator,” Press said in an interview with C-SPAN to be aired this weekend. “If you’re a presidential candidate, there’s some aura about that that people listen.”

Press said that Sanders felt passionately that progressive issues such as stemming income inequality should be front and center in the Democratic primary.

“Somebody had to do it, and if somebody else did it, fine,” Press said. “If Elizabeth Warren had run, I’m pretty confident in saying Bernie Sanders never would have run.”

Liz better own up to it in the debate tomorrow. When they ask her about this I don’t want to hear a long drawn out answer about nothing. She needs to directly confirm this happened, or it is going to look like she is playing politics. She also needs to get to the point quicker with all of her answers.

I don’t know why you are so sure. People say all types of shyt behind closed doors. Not saying that he did say it because I don’t know. Nobody really knows expect Liz and Bernie.
