Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Bernie would need an overwhelming amount of progressive Dems like him in Congress and I don't see that happening. Bernie getting elected President would probably lead to Republicans winning back the House, Senate or both in 2022. There would be anti-socialism rise similar to the Tea Party rise against Obamacare in 2010 that won Republicans the House.
The Tea Party was a racist movement.

Nothing to do with policy at all. I don't see that happening to a white guy

It's common to have a midterm flip. With Bernie in house hopefully he would be smart enough to reform the DNC to continue to bring out new and younger voters to sustain the party.

did what? don't yall argue he did a whole bunch of talking in his campaign and then got in office didn't do enough? which is it :hula: if he didn't do enough, then i guess it's our fault, per the bernie school of presidency, we didn't do enough :(
Bernie wants more.

But Obama used his bully pulpit to pass ACA.

Isn't this what historically happens to presidents? Way to go out on a limb there. :francis:

He literally just said that it would be his role to help rally those people, and he'd also be applying pressure from the executive side.
So you're admitting the goal is unrealistic to go from private to public in a 0-100 perspective :ld:

this issue is bigger than bernie, but the geographic concentration of dems, especially younger ones, doesn't favor adding progressive seats, and in places where he encourages independents to vote dem, it will likely come from purple counties where more moderate dems win...

The idea that Bernie would just lose seats simply because others lost seats in the past is just an excuse to write off a true backlash against his ideology.

I'm talking about the strength of the movement.

Sounds good until you realize the DNC would fight Sanders tooth and nail because they don't want him in that spot. They wouldn't let him take over the way Trump took over the Republican party.

It was unrealistic to get a public option, yet we did.

The seats don't have to be "Progressive"

M4A, Tuition Free schooling, Green New Deal, were considered 'progressive', not they're the norm. The only debate is how you get to the end goal.

I'm answering your question. You asked why Sanders would be needed as president and I told you what he said. Now you're pivoting and suggesting I am "admitting" private to public was unrealistic. :francis:

Do better. You are just hating to hate, cut it out.

IMO, the true measure of a backlash against him will be 2024, he's very likely to be a one term president. so will the party fall in line with who he gives his blessing to or will we have another moderate/progressive fight and how charged up will the republicans be, do they take the WH right back. this is what scares me about him and biden (and warren to an extent), spectrum aside, the dems badly need someone who at least on the surface level of age, can be a two termer

no they dont, but if you're keeping the house blue with conservative dems, who don't support your policy, how does that get you to your goal?
