Household income in the United States - Wikipedia

only 2.6% of households have that kind of income.

We appreciate y'all taking one for the team
Nah that is awful unless employers are going to continue paying large contribution towards the support for that for anyone above 100k as a family a year will be low.

Not for a family of 4 it isn’t, but if you’re single then :Patrice:
yeah its decent family of 4 that's not that bad especially with small kids

The polls are in Bernie's favor. The fundraising is in Bernie's favor. There's no problem with you having your concerns, I'm just going to keep pointing out that the actual evidence is on his side.

.
im not sure i agree with this :yeshrug:

-bernie is beating trump in the polls, but so did hillary

-bernie is NOT outraising trump. even rich democrats are gonna donate to trump if bernie is the nominee :heh:

I don't understand what you posted really. So forgive me if my answer is off...

But from what I've read employers will continue to contribute via a 7.5% payroll tax

You better start writing off some of that income from your rental property.

But real spill, it's a lot for a single person to pay, but if it were a family it'd be a good deal.
i'm not sure, looking at the coverage offered at my job, a family of 4 pays ~60/month toward their premium. and if this is a young healthy family, parents go for a couple annual check ups - that's $40 in co pays, kids might add 160 in co pays, 500 for random prescriptions, preventive dental is would be at no cost...that's less than $2000 a year in medical bills - again, for average care, of course this can shoot up if you have major medical issues/events or need major dental work/orthodontics

That's a tough sell...I know I've been lucky to work at companies that offer good plans and have paid the whole premium for the policy holder, but 7-10,000 a year is a lot to come up off of when you can look at your past medical bills and not have ever come close to spending that, even as a family

edit: yea, 4% tax for M4A + CA taxes, + his inevitable Fed tax hike....:francis:

Really? What's the average yearly health costs for the upper class american?
i pay nothing toward my health & dental coverage premiums, i may see a doc 1-3 times a year $10-co pay for GP, $20 co-pay for specialist - so let's just say $60 in co-pays, i spend about $50-70 on scripts, dental cleanings are free, i may pay 70-200 for some labs

so on a high side with lots of visits and scripts, i'd pay $750 out of pocket for care....now i'm supposed to pay nearly 10x that (would actually be 14x that if i didn't finesse my rental income). really, how do you sell that to a healthy upper income person?

With kids you pretty much have to factor in 1-2 emergency room/urgent care visits a year. Viruses and illnesses are rampant in elementary and junior high school, so you'll make that trip at least once a year per child to stay ahead of anything serious. You also have to factor in 6-month dentist checkups and once a year optometry visits along with a standard yearly physical. That's $100-125 per child in just basic co-pays IF you have reasonably good healthcare and like you say, everyone is generally healthy.

that's a small percentage of the population that will be negatively impacted, unfortunately.

At my job I pay $160 a month for just myself (actually, verify that your payment isn't bi-weekly instead of monthly cause your deal sounds too good to be true).

Average premium costs for a family is $1500+ per month

I have no clue currently I pay 150-$200 a month for a family regardless of my economic status. That's including my employer putting 1500 into my hsa. Under Bernie's plan if that's post paid employer deduction my premiums would be going up significantly. Obviously that doesn't include out of pocket cost and things like that which can randomly come yearly. I think it's a tough sell for people who have great private insurance

(kinda off topic) your employer gives you $1500 a month for the HSA?!

(more on topic) all of your health costs would be eliminated for a 2% increase in your payroll deductions. It's not that harsh.

the co pays for the kid should cover preventive care visits, i never went to the ER as a kid, but even with your #'s, my estimate could double to 4k and that's still less than the $7k M4A is asking for. this plan penalizes high COL residents IMO, the fed government looks at income as all the same when asking someone for $3k more a year in Alabama might be more doable than asking that from someone in Cali

Bernie's fundraising is not only beating the other Dems in pure numbers, it also comes from a far broader base of support. Even if you don't think he'll outraise Trump, his fundraising numbers still look better than anyone else's.

Similarly, his polls look good at every level. Head-to-head with Trump nationally, head-to-head in key states, against the other Dems, his likability is high, he's maintained a high floor, he has by far the largest base of people who have already made up their minds who to vote for, and as I said earlier he has the longest time in the prominent public eye so those who were going to hate him are already accounted for. He ain't like Buttigieg, Bloomberg, or Klobuchar who are getting floored with each new exposure. Everything that could have come out against Bernie has already been fired.
