Edit: Buttigieg dropping out is why I think early voting without rank choice is a bad thing and why I haven't voted for Warren yet.
But now they have to make a new first choice
Probably Biden tbh. It doesn't really make sense for them to go to Warren when she's never even finished higher than him in a caucus/primary. They probably think she (and Klob) is next to drop out, so they'd be even more skeptical of voting for [them].
Anyway, if you (not you personally) want to get an accurate snapshot of 2nd choice look at the aggregate not one poll by a middling pollster. Like, it's March 2020 and posters here still think a single poll is the end all be all instead of a data point with varying accuracy.
What does Pete even...do? What is he an expert on? I can't imagine him getting a decent cabinet position. Secretary of State is the most prestigious cabinet position, Biden is gonna give that to someone he actually likes, and who is qualified for the job. Not a small town mayor.
Hell he might give it to John Kerry, who endorsed him. Kerry was a great SoS for Obama and is clearly still capable of doing the job. It would make sense to bring him back essentially to repair Trump's mess for a couple years, then step down for someone younger/newer. Who knows though.
Well, the good thing is Buttigieg needs something to get him out of IN and Biden is the only person running who would give it to him. Well, Bloomberg but he's not winning the nomination.
He could be Sec of Vet affairs, HUD (dicey given some of his complaints as mayor), Transportation, HHS, or Interior and his credentials aren't any worse than his predecessors.
The play is simple, serve as a Sec and move the family to NOVA (the area fits his profile well). Now he can run statewide in VA while being able to parry carpetbagger label and he'd have more name rec than the majority of his primary opponents. He's young enough that he doesn't need to run for POTUS immediately and can fix his weak areas.
