Queen was not even close to the best defensive rookie last year. He was a liability in coverage his coverage ratings were terrible ask any ravens fan. By the end of the the the season they were almost using him as a 2 down linebacker because of this. Him and brooks were a wash honestly. Winfield was much better along w several other defensive rookies
Sweat is a beast but Chase dominated too...and you can't compare offensive talent to defensive talent, its apples and oranges.
Chase generates a shytton of pressures and for only 6 sacks or whatever he's had, he had like 5 forced fumbles. again, the line is dominant and makes the whole defense damn near elite
the lines can't cheat and slide to sweat, they have to account for the problem that is Chase. and he ended the year on a complete tear.
I really don't see how he's a disappointment. he was ranked #2 rookie by pff. he was jumping off the tape for most of these games
I'd take chase young and chinn over him easily along with winfield. I agree with @yseJ about sacks not being the end all be all.Winfield came through. I forgot he was a rookie too. You got me on that one.
Queen was after that for me. I can forgive a rookie who's the starting LB, on the second best defense in football, playing in the toughest division, and leading the team in tackles to have some coverage slips towards the end of the year when they get tape on him.
I don't trust PFF stat folks when it comes to their position rankings. This will be a future debate for us. I've said going back to Ohio State that I've never liked the use of his hands and his attack angles are off. Bosa by comparison, who plays the same position, use of hands is incredible and leverage play is awesome too . We see different things when we watch Chase play. He's athletic as fukk, but that's all I see and that's not enough to me.

Dear Spanos family,
Let's chat. I would love to help.
Best,
