This is an interesting article and here’s how I conceptualize this. There are SEVERAL questions around whether or not Tua will be a quality player in the NFL. However, Tua coming out was a better prospect than Mac Jones and was dealt a similar hand as far as talent around him was concerned. So you’re sitting there at number 3 with at least a serviceable player in Jimmy G to draft a guy who was a huge benefactor of the talent around, a guy who wasn’t even as good as his predecessor who we aren’t even sure will be good in the NFL? I get moving off of Jimmy G, but drafting Mac Jones seems like a move with limited upside.

This feels like Trubisky over Watson and Mahomes. Not a direct comparison but just how one guy doesn't have anything that jumps off the screen yet he's being taken over two guys who clearly do. He didn't even have a great pro day.

Why would the 9ers go from one unathletic QB to another one? Take someone who makes the offense more dynamic.
