It doesn’t have to be an either or situation. The NBA isn’t putting the 2nd round of the playoffs at 1pm on a Tuesday. When the NFL has multiple Monday or Thursday games they don’t put one of them at 1 pm. Yet for some reason this has to be the norm for baseball.

You literally are gaining nothing by putting those games on so early. Braves and Philly casual fans are not going to watch the Padres just because you put them on at 8. All you did was hurt the viewership of those early games.

Astros and Mariners fans are also pissed about this crap.

First, I agree with you its bullshyt, so relax.

Its the norm for baseball because baseball has ALWAYS been a daytime sport. Its their history and baseball's downfall and why they are the #4 or #5 sport in the country now. They sticks to their traditions no matter what.

The NFL doesnt have 4 playoff games to schedule in one day. They spread over 3 days now in a weekend. Its baseball's history and stubbornness.

No, they dont gain anything, and they dont care. Houston and Seattle fans should be pissed, and so should Atlanta and Philly fans. But baseball would rather have those series have a national audience in the day time, then a small one at night, cause they are NEVER getting the lions share of the 'viewership' you are talking about over the Yankees and Dodgers.

Because we're used to day games over the course of the season, so it's not some unforeseen situation.

and NBA does everything they can not to overlap games which is why outside of the NBATV matchup, TNT has their game unopposed and ESPN has their game unopposed (also why the first round takes forever to finish). The DS takes a week to finish and TBS and FOX/FS1 aren't gonna air against each other.

The only way your scenario could really work is if they aired one game a night (or two if the west coast gets a 10:30 start), but then the DS would take much longer to finish.

For those complaining about game times, TBS is airing both series in the AL. When are they suppose to put both games on at night? Fox/FS1 is showing the NL, so when are those games suppose to air when you know FOX has primetime shows?

Also, the main thing that hurts baseball is.... they have no designed cutoff for overtime/extra innings. These networks dont want 15 inning games, and all Yankee games already drag on due to MLB wanting to milk all the NYC viewers.

and if the Yankees happened to be on during the day, it's something we'll adjust to, for a DS is at most 5 games. The later rounds don't have this issue.

If the Astros and Mariners are mad it's because they don't have the later game. That's it, but FOX isn't gonna air the teams every other day just to make people happy; it just prolongs the series when they're up against time.

I remember when they first started the wild card rounds, the games were all on at the same time.
