2022 NBA Finals on ABC is 5th least-watched series since 1988

Is there anything that can be done to increase viewership?

The vast majority is 9pm though

2016, 2017, etc. Most were 9pm, occasionally 8pm.

Sitting here watching a Stanley Cup match that started at 8. World Series starts at 8, Super Bowl starts at 6:30, NCAA title game starts at 8. Yet for some reason the NBA can’t manage to put on a game before 9 and on a day where people don’t have to go to work in the morning. Guess they don’t want the youth watching their games for some reason.

Can’t wait to up this thread and quote all of the “coli basketball financial forecasting experts” when the new TV deal numbers drop next year :dead: the plea’s that will be copp’d lol
The Coli relying on TV ratings as the sole metric for whatever agenda they want to push that day is hilarious. :mjlol:

I'm sure the trading desk over at Goldman Sachs about to downgrade their outlook on Disney because the Coli Research Team™ said fans aren't paying attention to the TV games because of social media, too many 3 point attempts, and late night games. :russ:
Just fukking absurd

Bama ass DC
Because media executives aren’t as moronic as the Coli Financial Forecast team ….now get the fukk on with your goofy ass rhetorical rambling :pachaha:
No because there's a network that basis themselves centered around live sports and they overpay because if they don't they cease to exist :heh:
ESPN overspends on every single contract they bid on including NFL (they pay more to have one game a week than CBS and Fox pay to have 2 games) because if they don't set the bar super high they'd essentially be useless. They can't be outbid at any cost. Disney doesn't wannna foot the bill for espn they want them to operate and be stable on their own. But cord cutters...
But yall don't look at it from that way yall look at it from a "i want this to succeed cause I stan this bullshyt" perspective.
Once you know how the television industry works you'll understand more and why money moves the way it moves.

Eastern Standard Time is the WOAT timezone for being a sports fan, you can't convince me otherwise. I was on EST in college and a west coast national TV game would be coming on at 9:30p on a weekday. I'd be falling asleep before half time. PAC-12 football games would kickoff at 10:30p. :mjtf:

In western timezones you can watch games and still have a little time to do something afterwards or just go to bed at a reasonable time.
As childish as it sounds, that’s literally my main reason for never wanting to move east :russ: Everything national runs later
