He was still mourning the loss of his son who died in 2015. I thought he should have run, and would have been the presumptive favorite, but obviously if you are still mentally dealing with the death of a child, running a primary and general election campaign isn't the best solution to grieving.

i think that's used as an excuse, tbh. when obama beat hillary in 2008, it was decided behind the scenes that the 2016 nomination was hers. the clinton machine was a lot more powerful than the nonexistent biden machine

there's a reason that zero Dem senators or governors got into the primary in 2016, on the heels of the most popular democrat of all time, which is obviously ludicrous on its face given how many people jumped in in 2020. 2016 was pre-decided and bought off
