I don’t understand this defeatist mentality, what’s the harm in trying your best to win? Imagine if Republicans had the same mentality for the blue wall prior to 2016

I mean, whoever wants to run can run and maybe they'll have a positive downballot effect :yeshrug: but that's the best we can hope for

I'd just hope that people (and the DNC) don't get too invested or spend too much on an unwinnable race

Texas is Georgia on steroids. If Georgia can be won so can Texas

Not really.

Georgia has a much higher percentage of black people (who vote Dem) while Texas has a much higher percentage of Latinos (who tend to vote Republican). That makes Texas inherently much less likely to vote for a Dem.

Texas Latinos vote Dem at a larger clip than say Florida Latinos, Kamala just didn’t appeal to them

The Crockett decision followed by the Kamala news today are the wages of identity politics. Democrats have commodified losing for women by casting them as perpetual victims who must be blindly supported and believed. It started with the Hillary "it's my turn" shyt. Then we got "believe black women." Now here we are. Nominations are yours by birthright, and if you lose you just write a book and make bank traveling the country detailing how The Man or The System screwed you over. To a room full of professional women and MSNBC moms who eat that shyt up. It's like this is the religion, these speeches/events are the sermons, and loser ass candidates are the priestesses of career advancement.

So now, as the party starts to move away from that shyt we're going to see an aggressive response as these clowns realize the grift is almost up. Which is why Crockett hopped into the Texas race with zero plan besides promoting herself as a victim once she loses. And Kamala will run for president and insinuate male candidates are being disrespectful or criticizing her too much. And in both cases they assume black voters are stupid enough to play along. They may be - at least, the older ones like my parents. But I can't see young black people falling for this play again.

It's gonna be very important that 2027 does not turn into 2015, when 100 republicans ran for president and made Trump's ascent easier. The more candidates in this race, the easier it's going to be for Kamala to do damage. And btw....I feel similarly about Gavin Newsom. That fraud needs a crowded race.

To play devils advocate, This cycle in particular the Latinos have a good reason to vote the other way or stay at home. If they haven’t already been black bagged and sent to a country of unknown location yet.

I'm not really sure what your point is. That women shouldn't run?

They've had good reason to vote the other way since 2016 and didn't :yeshrug: so I don't really see any reason to think now will be any different.

Of course that's not my point. I'm saying Crockett and Kamala are symptoms of a decade of telling women that nominations are their birthright, and there's a very large and very loud group of voters who reward this behavior. They buy the books, they attend the speeches...they allow candidates to turn losing into a lucrative endeavor. It's not about winning elections, it's about building your brand and audience. You see republicans do similar shyt. where fringe guys run for president just to get on the debate stage so they can build a fanbase.

Nobody told women that nominations are their birthright. you're arguing a straw man. You're also doing the equivalent of what white conservatives do when they argue DEI is just elevating unqualified Black people to positions they don't deserve or earn.

Also if you admit that turning electoral loses is something that even Republicans do, then how do you arrive at the conclusion that Democrats are the problem for elevating women? Seems like more of a systemic problem than one of women.

I'm not sure what makes Crockett or Kamala "fringe" aside from being black women.

This all just kind of comes off as an indirect way of saying black women aren't electable.
