Im not fan of TCM, but your perspectives overlap more than you might think. When he talks about people not believing that Dems might actually tax billionaires to make the lives of ordinary people better, that rhymes with something you might say. Dems clearly have a credibility problem with the general public, which goes in to how an obvious con man could beat us in twice.

And if Dems want to be taken seriously as the party who wants to expand benefits, we also need to get serious about targeting benefit fraud. More Dems need to be outspoken against the fraud in Minnesota, that's money that could have legitimately go to people in need.

Do I hold TCM in high regard? I think the answer to anyone who reads my posts is obvious. But do I think he has some legitimate critiques about the Dem Party? Yes. And we need to be taking the (serious) critiques seriously.
No the Dems need to show people the fraud going on in real time. This idea that Minnesota is some Massive fraud story is republican bullshyt that is distracting people from the massive fraud happening right now.

I am not saying you shouldn't discuss this because it's a legitimate news story. On a macro level its embarrassing that so many people are falling for this shyt again. We went through DOGE we seen that the republicans are corrupt and can't govern. The democrats need to continue to focus on that. If anything this news story hitting is because congress isn't in session so Trump can just say and do stuff and his version of reality is unopposed.

Perfect example of why I can’t stand that bushed Indian. Crime has fallen across the country since the initial post-quarantine surge. The decline is a return to the norm, as besides that covid blip it’s been falling for about a decade. But it doesn’t matter because there’s always a heinous crime to report on Fox News or twitter and that sets perceptions. You can implement every police program or reform that the pundit class wants and nobody will acknowledge that your city is getting safer.

Trump lobs Baltimore alongside every other major city when discussing crime because it has a black mayor and black residents. And we got black posters on the forum co-signing obvious racist nonsense because [insert right wing talking point] lmao.

Well thankfully no one will fall for it because they put their economic distress above all else….:mjpls::troll:

" dems weak on fraud" nuts

We got to move away from Twitter. There was an article that he was cool with Trump again and now we see that he can steer the conversation to bullshyt. Even if this fukking site won't update to bluesky, ya’ll need to download the app

Honestly it should have been done a decade ago or more once they went public, bluesky should be the alternative but unfortunately you'd need everyone across the spectrum to go there including entertainers. I hate using it but its the only place currently that still has some good news information, we need bluesky to not be the lefts truth social and instead what the old twitter used to be. Even before Elon purchased when was the last time something local like trended ? Its been controlled for a while now I'd argue since 2017ish. Now it's even worse with a right wing billionaire controlling the algorithm. He has created and propped up fake journalists and accounts that have zero ethics

and yet americans just elected a billionaire who ran on cutting taxes on himself :mjlol::mjlol:

you live in a fantasy land; progressives just can't sell it. no one likes you, and no one believes you. i don't see that changing any time soon

republicans are lucky you can't separate effective economic populism from all your other weird, bullshyt ass positions. there's almost zero danger of the far left gaining any national traction
liberals biggest problem. add in God and guns and its a miracle Dems win anything.

What are you arguing here?

Every major dem city like Baltimore has been touting the decline in crime that largely happened because they got serious about policing criminals and not excusing them. Dems "soft on crime" talking points will no longer work because damn near every major city has abandoned the far left strategies on fighting crime.

The covid surge absolutely killed any and all progressive ideas for downplaying crime. The work Trump has tried to take credit for in places in like DC was already happening because the citizens were calling for it.

The filibuster is a mirage of a problem.

The problem is that party loyalty has become the litmus for electability. If a GOP candidate wants to vote for Medicare for all he/she can’t even get elected cause they are pro-choice in the wrong state.

60 votes either way shouldn’t be that hard to accomplish in a room of 100 people. But now we have Senators and Congresmen that are torpedoing their own parties just to please donors.
and a 60 vote majority will never happened again unless a US president decides to go to war. So that means all change whether conservative or progressive can only come in the form of budget reconciliation bills which are just adjustments to existing tax code.

"Both sides" need to be realistic about what the federal government can actually change or destroy under the current structure of the filibuster.

I find it funny that Biden was able to tax the wealthiest corporations, invest in infrastructure to the likes we've ever seen and massively invest in climate change . Trump was able to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans, kick people off of welfare and massively invest in border control.... Yet none of their voters feel as if either president fulfilled their campaign promises because it's really hard for the American citiizens to fill the effects of budget reconciliation on their day to day over even year to year.

I wonder what folks will gravitate towards this year. Will we get a remix of the classics?
Republicans aren't effective when they are in control because the classics for them are based in "fear mongering".

I do know what Dems do other than focus on housing and prices because they have no convincing argument on immigration. Dems messaging was at its best when they were anti big business but those days are over.

edit: Going back to my other post the only thing Dems ca realistically do about housing is bring back the Obama/Bush jr 1st time homebuyer tax credit.

You're proving my point. The soft on crime shyt died years ago, democrats returned to their normal stances on crime and guess what happened. Crime declined and nobody cared. Instead people blindly say shyt like "xyz is not safe" and it's accepted as fact.

Perception is reality. Social media, crime apps, and the news being a regurgitation of social media trends create a bigger sense of unease and what could happen.

Can’t ignore it. This is the current reality.
